Married for The Greek's Convenience
Hard to pin this one down. The FL is a strong woman in that she deals with the gut punches the ML throws at her with surprising resilience, and doesn't respond with equal 'violence'. If she'd wanted to, she could have easily sabatouged his stability attempt with a phone call of her own, but she kept her head, realized what was done was done, but the child shouldn't be collateral damage. It was good, too, that the ML actually woke up and realized what his selfish maneuvering cost her... twice... and felt regret. We didn't get another - an actual heartfelt - apology at that point, but we did get an explanation for his first abandonment, and the FL was surprisingly accepting. I liked how she didn't hold grudges. They say hatred and wanting revenge is akin to eating rat poison and hoping the rat will die. The truth is, holding onto those emotions does you more harm than your target, and the FL is a good example of how staying positive, even after being blindsided, let's you move forward and not stay stuck in the rut of the past. The ML I was less impressed with. He was thoughtless to the last. At first you could blame it on his desperation, but in the end he did it again... threw his money around to make things happen his way without consideration for her intents or wishes. I appreciated the sediment - give her an actual wedding to remember - but if planning her own wedding had been a big deal to her, it could have become a bad memory. I guess that's where her positive attitude wins again. The ML got better than he deserved and I hope she can help him learn to rein in his selfish thoughlessness.
