Yuki No Shita No Qualia
This one is more about the aftermath of heartbreak than anything else. The BL aspect is more of an after thought. An extremely slow burn where they gradually heal each other just by being around one another. Someone in the comments suggested that one of them might be aroace, and although I don't really agree with that, this is a story that I probably would recommend to someone that is. I don't think this will be a reread for me though.

10 years and a near death experience is all it took for him to finally realize he liked him... omfg can you really be that out of tune with yourself???? The story in general is good, but I do think that the execution was a bit... disappointing?? and choppy?? and at times abrupt. Of course this is just a personal opinion. The storyline is decent and a lot of people seem to like the story. Apparently it even made some people cry.
Nande Koigataki ga Ki ni Nannen!?
Stop they're so funny though? I wish vol. 2 wasn't dropped <3

This manga grew on me the more I read it. It started out average and cliche, but it has a lot of things going for it. I love how casual they are about things. I don't just mean with each other, but with labels and boxes. Like how Ryo wanted to paint his nails and wear lipstick, solely because he loves makeup itself. It shows that you can love something without having to smack a label on it or be put in a box. It's like, people seem to believe that men can't like makeup without wanting to present themselves as feminine?? Which has always seemed strange to me. There are plenty of other countries where men wear makeup and it has nothing to do with gender or sexuality.. it's just makeup. I liked that this manga showed that with Ryo. It wasn't something he wore on the daily but his love of makeup itself was a big focus. Also, I loved how non toxic this was??? Takumi is like the egotistical straight white boy but accepted his sexuality pretty well and never once turned on Ryo. He didn't shame Ryo OR himself for being into men. WHICH WAS AMAZING BECAUSE I HATE SEEING THAT SHIT IN OTHER STORIES. Some people are annoyed by their conflicts but honestly it was very realistic. It was a healthy amount of conflict for a relationship and it only made them stronger. It never got overdramatic/unrealistic. By the end of this manga, it felt like a real and solid portrayal of what relationships are like irl. Also, as a side note, the sex scenes just got hotter as the manga progressed omg. Those puns near the end were awful tho I haven't done a long review like this in a while. Idk why I'm feeling so literate today. I'd probably reread this in the future.
Act Out!
