Both have pretty solid / believable reasons for not wanting to pursue a genuine relationship, and it's not the typical just wants to fuck a lot type reasons (at least not entirely) Seme is kind of an asshole and pushy at first, he's shallow and judges and scores people based on their looks bc he doesn't want to form a deeper connection with anyone. Even at work he puts on the mask of a friendly capable co-worker and worries more about saying the right thing than saying what he truly thinks. It's all about maintaining a good image and keeping people at a distance. Just as he was looking for a new partner, his frumpy co-worker turns out to be a cutie and they develop this relationship. Uke is the frumpy IT guy who's a hidden handsome man. Pretty laid back otaku type but actually doesn't take any shit and speaks up for himself. Not really the shy type, just kind of quiet and more interested in gaming. He's also very much a no relationship / sex friends only type of guy, but for different reasons to the seme. Their sexual chemistry was always good, but it was nice to see them become closer and develop feelings. This was at 21. Up to 24 now and an interesting twist where uke displays aromantic signs (though since this is bl he's likely just never experienced falling in love and there will eventually be romantic developments. It's nice to see the playboy fall in love first and be the one pining and trying to get the other to fall in love, all the while still in a sex friends relationship bc they're both super horny lol. The added knowledge of the seme's feelings is great bc he's trying to hold himself back and treat the uke right to get him to fall in love, but the uke is just horny (and forward) which is impossible for the seme to resist lol. Still really enjoying the dynamic and developments so far, and though they started off with sex, the slow burn of the romantic development is really enjoyable.
