Why Are You So Kind To Everyone Except Me?

Ongoing | Mallinflower | 2022 released

37: sorry but this is a classic example of why I hate the miscommunication trope. So stupid and pointless. Uke is beyond naive, he’s downright stupid. Oblivious and idiotic with just absolutely no sense of what other people could be thinking and always in his own head overthinking and coming to the most nonsensical conclusions. He’s supposed to be the cute clueless type but he is just so dense and annoying and frustrating, idk how the seme puts up with him. He has absolutely zero understanding of the seme, he really did just fall in love with the image of him and not the real person bc he doesn’t pay attention at all to the seme’s real thoughts and feelings and just doesn’t have the comprehension skills. We don’t get the seme’s pov and thoughts, but even so I could understand him perfectly just from how the uke misinterprets everything and how frustrating it must be. The seme is like the perfect guy but is thrown around and ends up driven a bit crazy and is possessive and very sensitive and constantly suspicious bc of years of the nonsense misunderstanding between them propelled by the uke. Yes, seme should have been upfront much sooner, but it’s understandable after the way he was spurned after their first kiss and how heartbroken and confused he must have been. His misunderstanding makes sense. The uke’s however just stems from his idiocy, lack of self confidence, and just complete obliviousness to others. It was so frustrating and got worse and worse as the story went on, even after they started dating. It started out with a pretty good unrequited feelings yearning and miscommunication longing, but was drawn out into a crapshoot with a barely functioning brained mc. Deep sigh. I can’t continue to read this bc no matter how cute they are together, the stupidity is just too much for me. And there’s alarming signs of toxicity, with the uke wanting to please and go along with anything seme wants and seme being overly possessive and suspicious to a stalker point. Seme is also showing red flags of being suspicious of literally everyone in uke’s life, even his sister and friends, and wanting to isolate him from them. Also didn’t stop the second round when uke asked to stop… big sigh. And what’s unfortunate is that they could have had a really wholesome and sweet relationship, with the uke as the cute sunshine one to be spoiled and the seme as someone devoted and doting who loved to spoil him, but the years of frustration and misunderstanding on top of the uke’s current stupidity and inability to understand the seme’s feelings, have twisted things into this relationship they have now. Unfortunately I just can’t bear to read more. Art is stunning though, very clean and pretty. Wasted on this story.

This was interesting and complex. A toxic relationship, emotionally abusive and not in the typical sexual abuse/rape way. Both parties can be at fault, though I do think the seme comes off worse though I understand why the uke is not blameless. There is just plain meanness, negging, controlling, jealousy and obsession, guilt tripping, near revenge porn on the part of the seme. Uke is persistent in love bombing even when turned away, then lacks clear communication and empathy when he gets bored and drops the other person like a hot potato. Though he was worse to the redhead partner than current partner. With the redhead he was basically stalking, with his persistent love bombing and inability to take no for an answer despite the redhead's clear refusal. Their relationship seemed to be all good though until he lost interest and tried to cut off his partner with no communication. But afterwards, redhead's violence is all on him though it's sad things turned out that way. With seme, seme was toxic towards him from the beginning so him cutting off the seme when it got too much is more understandable. Though he shouldn't have pursued him from the beginning bc he knew what the seme was like and seme had set clear boundaries and expectations, which uke's persistent pushy nature ignored. Seme's nature was explained as the neglect and lack of emotional warmth he was shown as a child, but less traumatic than other stories with this same backstory. It was definitely messy and toxic, but they seem to be improving in communicating and setting boundaries with each other and are on the way to a healthier relationship. They should definitely both get therapy, separately and couples therapy until they can handle it themselves though.
