Angel Buddy
list - 9.5+, cuddle, top tier, beat you up 80+ This was really sweet and lovely! Art is gorgeous, characters are likeable, romance is so sweet. Plot felt a little disjointed at times. Long stretches of nothing really happening, just fluff and the couple getting closer, and then something random will be introduced. But it's ok because the main draw for this is the couple and how utterly adorable and sweet they are together. They fell in love kind of fast and it didn't necessarily show the progress of their feelings well. But they had good chemistry and were believable as two lovebirds. The last few chapters leading up to the resolution were so sad, but I'm glad everything resolved happily in the end. I still feel like there were a few loose ends, but they did a good job trying to tie things back to the easter eggs that were shown earlier and resolve the past with the present. Still kind of unresolved about the lifespan of an angel and human etc, but Taker said he saw they have a happy ending so I guess that's all that matters, it can be left up to our imagination. Kind of a deus ex machina situation at the end where Taker literally becomes a god and goes back in time and fixes everything, and then rests and is no longer a god and they go on as they always had been with their problems fixed. It wasn't necessarily poorly written, but it could have definitely been written more strongly to add more weight to their problems and more depth to the characters and world. I wish they explored more about Taker and his inclination towards humans, his decision to become a god, while they did talk about it I wish they went just a little bit more in depth. He really shone when Sooho was suffering and died and he was grieving and frustrated at not being able to do anything, and they had a great line about him understanding what it means to love someone and cry for them, and that was the most human he's ever been. Wish there was a bit more about what that then means when he gives it all up to become a god to save Sooho (but i guess it didn't matter bc he stopped being a god shortly after he fixed what he needed to). Sooho also had a decent character arc from hating ghosts to appreciating the life he had. They showed his suffering well, but I wish they showed that final moment of despair more impactfully, where he is so tired of the suffering that he is willing to fully let go. Part of it is because he trusts Taker will save him, but I also wish they showed a bit more of his desperation that lead him to make that decision. Idk, he was great but still felt slightly shallow to me. And sometimes the thought process or decision making didn't quite make sense to me or was contradictory. Overall, really enjoyable story. There were a lot of couple moments and cuddling and these two were very affectionate. Engaging story that might get side tracked once in a while but did follow through and wrap up well. Slightly weak writing with a deus ex machina to resolve everything, but it was engaging and did follow a plan throughout, with some random interjections and side subplots. Overall enjoyable read.
