Sleeps In Sunbeams's manga / #step-brothers(4)

I loved this story with the little pocket sized uke who looks like a teen and his beautifully stoic new step brother. Contrary to some other reviewers I appreciated the pace of this manga. There was always a feeling that the English brother had some deep emotions stirring for his new sibling, but if they had acted on that sooner it would have trivialised their loss of their parents. After all, they had just met and become family. When the first stolen kisses were given it was so sweet, and when things fell apart I felt the pangs for sensei as he walked the silent house. It all made the eventual HEA so much sweeter. Beautiful artwork too, and I loved how Yamamoto Kotesuko drew the pretty and feminine friend and the beautiful yet masculine younger brother most particularly.

An enjoyable story about three ‘brothers’ (not blood related) and the will left by their father that will have them living under 1 roof for a month. I would have been happy to have had the story wrap up at the end of the movie premiere scene as the last few chapters dragged a bit, but it was a good ending still.

Two good stories. The main story has Nanao and Ryohei becoming step brothers with their parents recent marriage to each other. Nanao is closet gay and when Ryohei finds out there are many new, overwhelming feelings to sort through. I like that Nanao tries to make sure that Ryohei is certain of what he is getting into before starting a real relationship. Cute art and strong feelings, this was an enjoyable read.

Freshman high school student Ryouichi’s mother is about to get married. Ryouichi has mixed feelings about it, especially about his new step brother. Those feelings become even more tumultuous when he gets formally introduced to the 25yo office worker he went home with when drunk. Now the temperamental teenager has to deal with his confusing feelings for Shintarou; his step brother and the man who took him home thinking he was 19. The story is cute. Ryouichi is all angsty adolescence; a young man who is struggling with his mom’s new happiness and with his feelings for the older brother now in his life
