Mother's Spirit
This is one of those must read stories that you know will be re read many times in the future. The art was exceptional, the characters were so well drawn I had to stop frequently to admire the talent on the pages. I loved the story, it was sexy and romantic and sweet and funny too. Highly recommended.
Hoshigari na Kimi to Futsutsuka na Boku
A varied collection of one shots, most worth a read. Wasn’t fond of the rape scene, nor that characters proclivity for hunting for people to mess with. At least the uke kicked him out for a while..so many in yaoi are very accepting of a partner who seeks their own sexual gratification via force, drugs and non consensual means.
Unmei Nante Shinjinai
I liked the idea of the second story more, though both were enjoyable reads. Both felt a little abrupt in their endings, I was looking for more.
My Darling is English Gentleman
Seriously adorable, this is a case of opposites attract between the starchily routined and seriously naive English lord and the predatory yet thoughtful Japanese gardener.
Kikoushi no Mune de Otoko wa Oboreru
A Japanese hotel concierge and a French artist, a hotel owner and his best employee, the son of an ex Yakuza boss and the older bodyguard/butler turned lover and ‘business man’. These are the three couples in this manga and as short stories they were enjoyable. I liked the connection between the first two because they had known each other for a while before agreeing to a one night stand. Only once wasnt enough and their feelings for each other became deeper. I loved that the seme in this story put the happiness of his lover above himself. It was sweetly unselfish (a rare find in yaoi). The second story was short but the pair had history together. This was a story about accepting nothing less than a strong emotional connection and was sweet because of how the employee would accept nothing but a true bond from his boss. The final story was a sequel to ‘Shitsuji wa oose no mama ni’ and is best read after that story.
Shouta, Kimi wo Aishiteru
I totally enjoyed all 3 stories in this manga. The first story was with Shouta and Josh, an interracial love story between 2 strangers that bump into each other and are instantly drawn to the other. Shouta was very cute and expressive; Josh was super sexy (that scene where he knelt on the bed in his jeans taking off his shirt was 10/10 hot), a little pushy but sweet. The second story between ex delinquent and now baker, Kazuki and his kouhai Teppei was my favourite (only just, over the 1st story..I have a soft spot for reformed delinquents who keep a dangerous edge). There were some ridiculously sexy, hot scenes in this story as well as some LOL moments. The final story was my least favourite but still cute with coworkers in a long time secret relationship, a uke with puppy like characteristics and a seme who is the younger kouhai.
Mr.Levi and Me
These guys are the most adorable idiots in the sweetest possible way. The story was wonderfully positive, it’s a rare find to stumble across something this loving. A recommended read!
Adeiro Yuugi
28yo clean freak Katase specializes in the traditional, intricate art of yuzen dyeing. When 32yo half American Fujinami Jouji visited the workshop to learn the skill, the attractive designer was partnered with Katase. The clash of opposites with the untidy, extroverted and confident Fujinami, sharing the space of minimalist loner and germophobe Katase, is the foundation of this romance. The art was beautiful and the story was nice, but it fell a little short for me with their connection. The falling in love and sex was too fast, it really didn’t have any authenticity. What was it about the serious Katase that attracted Fujinami so immediately? There is so much potential between this odd couple but all the power was with Fujinami. He was super successful, super good looking, outskilled Katase on his intricate and unique skill set almost immediately. Surrounded by people and even seemed to ignore Katase at times when surrounded by others. That all kind of bothered me. But that’s just me, and it’s not that it was bad. It just fell a bit short of being satisfying.
