Kainushibouchu
This was a very cute story with the little timid uke and the scary big delinquent. I love stories with delinquents who have a soft spot for their partner and even as a one shot that was pretty fast paced this was still adorable.
Koisuru Bicchi-kun
Some of these stories had such cute and original ideas (like the heart story and the one who spoke little because of the power of words). They would be lovely to see in a longer story as these were all super fast paced. Despite the shortness of these stories though, they mostly had a cute and sweet feeling (except the first one perhaps) and were enjoyable to read.
Mousouka, Koi o Suru.
A truly beautiful little collection of stories: Chapter 1, 2, 5.5: The Daydreamer Falls In Love -Yuma: College student, popular, straight. Overlooks Souta’s phone and observed BL. Intrigued and eventually befriends the quieter megane boy and the two become very close with similar interests. Values Souta for the way he feels in his company. -Souta: College student, gay but not open, enjoys BL manga, vivid imagination, romantic. You can tell this sweet guy is crushing hard on his new friend. Chapter 3: The “S” Treatment Kounichika Kouhei: HS student, soccer player, athletic. Takes the lead on helping treat the sadistic school nurse with pain immersion and empathy. Surprisingly dominant and bold. Sensei: School nurse enjoys watching students in pain when they are treated. Worried about being a pervert unsuitable for working at a school. Chapter 4: Can I Touch You? Sonoda: Angelically beautiful HS freshman student so good looking it’s a little intimidating to other students. Wants to be more than an untouched idol on a pedestal. Shows some intimidating possessiveness towards Kenji if others touch him. Kenji-kun: A little cute guy totally blown away by the chestnut haired perfection of Sonoda. Willing to do most anything for the one he has put on a pedestal, but needs a wake up call that the guy he idolises has needs an angel wouldn’t share. Chapter 5: My Second To Last Wish Sometimes, there is no happy ending and a friendship is irrevocably changed by a confession. This sad, poignant short story between Naoya and Daiki hurts the feelings, so read only if you enjoy a dash of heartache in your day.
Negative-kun To Positive-kun
This was friendship and first love and caring all tidily wrapped in the pages of a manga. Two adorable MCs who were total opposites and yet so right for each other.
Mikado no Shihou
A really lovely story about a friendship with the petite commoner Kouran, and the Emperor of Shou, Shiki. I liked the MCs, the gentle Shiki who is really only gentle with Kouran, and the sweet orphan girl who has a tendency to put others before herself. Their steady friendship to romance was lovely, it was the kind that was so strong that you knew nobody else could come between them. I wasn’t bothered by Kouran‘s petite build that often saw her being mistaken for a child because she was very clear and upfront about her age and it was a fun plot device (especially given that Shiki was actually younger than her by a year).
Fruit, Gateau au Chocolat
A peek into the lives of a prince like ikeman and the salaryman with beautiful penmanship and a great work ethic. There is so much more than the superficial with Shiina Kouki and Yonekura Hayato. These foodies bonded over delicious food shared every Friday. The things that they had in common, the gentle respect in their relationship, and the sweet sensuality of a consensual, loving relationship were all *chefs kiss*. What a lovely story.
Ouji Hiroimashita.
The story of Ginga, who comes from a large, poor family abandoned by their father and the guy he finds sleeping in the cold, Ouji. Initially mistaking Ouji for a homeless teen, Ginga is astonished and upset to find out that Ouji is actually the rich son of a noble house with a business set up for him to control after graduating uni. These two sweet guys end up falling in love but their social spheres remain poles apart. It’s a HFN ending with the potential for a HEA (either in a sequel one day or your imagination).
Kiss Shite Sugar-kun!
Satou is a famous child actor transitioning into more adult roles, in particular one for a school play. Taking a literal approach to being a naked manservant he was rehearsing sans clothes in a quiet locker room when archery ace, Yanagawa entered. Suddenly, Satou trips into Yanagawa who is shocked to find his arms full of a soft naked body. Tightening his arms, they both savour the rightness of feeling the other in their embrace. Indeed, for this pair, that hug became something to inspire. This ridiculously adorable story follows these seeming opposites as they fall in love. Both MCs are extremely focused and dedicated to their craft, something that they see and respect in each other. Their skinship is beautiful and how they happily ‘recharge’ irrespective of an audience is both hilarious and adorable. I loved the story and the surprising depth to both guys. Their mutual innocence was sweet and understandable given how much of their lives are dedicated to their craft. Satou was so gifted I actually teared up at his opening night performance lol. Another highly recommended read.
Soshite Boku wa Koi wo Shiru
This is such a lovely story. Apprentice patisserie, 19yo Hinata Shogo works at a little run down cake shop in the city. His mentor Hanagiri Akira, is also the man who saved his life after a car accident 2 years before and he is the kind, gentle man that Shogo is in love with. However, when Shogo finds out that there is a whole other side to Akira he becomes upset. Not that Akira isn’t perfect, but that he didn’t put in the effort to know the man he loved better. And so this bright, bubbly young man openly declares his love and envelops Akira in mayhem and happiness.
Boulange no Koibito
