Kyou, Hana No Gotoshi
Akira Norikazu is one of my favourite mangaka and this manga is a fine example of why. With truly beautiful artwork, the seme’s in this collection are powerful looking, frequently dangerous men who fall almost instantly for beautiful guys in a ‘forever’ kind of way. With yakuza in most of these, Akira Norikazu has opportunity to draw these men as dangerous predators you wouldn’t want to mess with (eg. http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/kyou_hana_no_gotoshi/mf/v01/c001/24/ ). Such lucky uke’s!
Trigger
A great escape with one shots full of hot, sexy semes and a range of adorable ukes. My only complaint is that I think many have the potential to be longer, more developed stories which would be even better.
Keep Out (kisaragi Hirotaka)
This was a very good story. I particularly liked the tough and feisty uke.
Tsumi Bukaku Aishiteyo
Mostly cute short stories, some better developed than others, some very fast paced. They seem to be some of the mangaka’s early work, her chat at the end was very cute too.
The 4th Guard
One of those yaoi that set the benchmark
Hizamazu Ai ni Kogareru
Cute set of stories. I liked the first one best, in part because it had a few chapters so the characters developed better, and in part because I have a soft spot for childhood friends to lovers stories.
Pet Shimasu!
Light and easy reads. The first couple were the cutest, though it wasn’t really pet play or a kink; the landlord simply genuinely missed his dog and then he fell for the uke as they spent time together. The other one shots were all very short but ok to read in those moments you want a fast story.
Face
I love this mangaka’s work. Her men are so masculine. Whether they are murdering yakuza, dissolute playboys or career salarymen, Nishida Higashi is able to create guys that speak and interact in ways that seem more authentic than the average mangaka. Even the silly jokes are great (“Weiner” ). In this set of stories I loved the intensity that sparked between the first pair, it was the best story besides the wonderful catch up with Shirota and Hime at the end.
Burlesque Night
A good story about a bodyguard and burlesque dancer. The art was lovely (and uncensored) and the relationship between the MCs was strongly forged on putting forth the effort to nurture a new connection even over a long distance. There was some trauma from the past to deal with which was covered with sensitivity by the mangaka. I can see this being very popular and I did appreciate and enjoy it, but I didn’t really bond with the characters enough to say I love it.
