Concrete Garden

Complete | kotobuki tarako | 2002 released

Story 1: Kashii Kiyoharu is called upon to befriend a man made angel kept locked up in a top secret facility. His own grandfather was one of the initial researchers responsible for creating Toki, but when Kashii met the lonely angel, he wasn’t the beautiful, spiritual being he was expecting. Instead this giant being was battle scarred and intimidating. Even worse, he was an unapologetic cannibal who consumed human flesh. I loved the concept of this story and could happily read an entire series immersed in this world with the dangerous yet protective Toki and his gentle little mate. Story 2: The Concrete Garden was a convoluted story of Tokiwo and Jiu set amidst parallel worlds and time travel. How can you love the version of your childhood friend who is destined to return to his own world without you? This was interesting and is another story idea that could benefit from more chapters exploring the worlds and characters. I didn’t like it as much as the first story but it was still a very interesting story.

Heavenly Angels

That was a very cute story. A touch of heavenly magic for a dad who struggles with loneliness and anger as he spends the first time with his kids in 5 years. Some mistakes need to be set right and this angel is just the one needed.
