Okaeri Wa Kochira
A nice oneshot about the boy left behind and growing up. Just my usual gripe, like most oneshots this would have been better if it was longer.
Pet Oshigotochuu
A sweetly fun read by one of my favourite authors. In this one we are gifted with a dorm full of good looking sweethearts, any of whom would look great on their own manga cover. The uke was the currently unemployed 18 yo Mizuki, the seme was older businessman Kudou who was initially cold and aloof. When he started to reveal his kinder side these guys started to fall in love. But there is still an older brother to deal with, as well as no job, suspicious neighbors and a dorm full of charming troublemakers.
Pretty Scoop!
Sada and his sempai were a case of opposites attract. Sada was an extroverted chatterbox with a youthful and innocent appearance, Nanjou was a man of few words and serious (even scary) demeanour. These two were paired up for their school photography club and sreadily began to appreciate their differences as love began to grow between them. Very sweet, another great read from Yamato Nase. The other stories were too short to really grab my attention.
Yajuu De Hatsukoi
Yamato Nase is a talented artist. I loved all these stories, though the first was my favourite. It was a rare one where the uke didn't look super young (he was around 29 after all) and he was beautifully drawn. I also really liked the driven intensity of the younger seme and his passion fueled loss of self control was hot to read.
Dear. Gentle Papa
Its hard to enjoy a story when you feel one half of one of the couples is a pedophile. Even worse when the father doesn't intervene simply because his son is happy. He didn't even have a discussion with the young man seeing his 12 year old son. There is some comfort in knowing that they intend to wait til the boy is 18 for sexual intimacy and had not gone this far even by the end of the book.. but still its just plain creepy for an adult to date a 12yo. Oka kun was someone I felt a little sorry for as he took on many burdens and I don't think his "father dearest" was someone really good for him. For me, I think the whole story was overshadowed by the pedo couple, making it hard to feel good about any of the characters.
Hanon
The first story was the best of the bunch with the piano rivals falling for each other. Then moving into the shotacon with his little brother was less enjoyable, and the rapist playwright was the worst by far. Should have made that one suffer. The difficulty with shota is that you know the kind of adults who chase pre teens are creepy loser pedos so even when well drawn, its just cringeworthy.
Magical Travel Boy
I enjoyed the story of the two otaku, there was no power imbalance or huge age gap to make things disturbing. The last story is another matter, from the public rape to later being ok with the rapist. Life isn't that naively simple for victims of sexual assault, especially when you're young. These kind of stories are ones I hate, even more so when the reconciliation is so darned easy.
News Na Kare!
Funny and adorable, an egotistical 24 year old famous actor falls for his 17 yo neighbor, a student who doesn't even have a tv. Yamato Nase draws such beautiful characters and captures motion as well as emotion perfectly. The part where the manager returned and chased down Tougo had me laughing out loud.
Tonari ni Kedamono
Kana and Shin; these childhood friends become even closer when their third friend Sora, reveals he has entered a relationship with another man. Shocking as that news may have been, it was even more so for Kana, who had revealed his intention to confess to Sora to Shin. In the ensuing turmoil for the floundering shop owner, his more forceful friend Shin revealed his own long held secret. Life is changing for these young men, but love will win the day.
