Sleeps In Sunbeams's manga / #Tears(2)

Loveholic

Complete | Kawai Touko | 2001 released

I am embarrassed to admit I didn’t clue in that the “second story” was Dai’s past until I saw that tattoo. That one broke my heart, had me in tears and then looking angrily for the tragedy tag that would have made me avoid the story. But I am glad I read it because it shows why he will grab onto love and fight for it, putting that person he loves first. This was a beautiful manga even without that backstory, but with it included there was more poignancy and sweetness to the story of now.

Afureru Namida o Nomikondanara

Complete | Aki Nohagi | 2000 released

A very different kind of fetish story, one where Amaike (who becomes sexually stimulated at the sight of tears and wants to consume them) feels he is abnormal and avoids relationships and even work that would have him near others. When he meets the recently broken up and crying Miharu, Amaike brings the sad man back to his apartment and for the first time in his life he lets his fetish loose. The gentle Miharu and the quiet Amaike begin a casual relationship, but neither of them are a casual kind of guy. The story is full of heartwarming moments and a deepening connection between these 2 men. Acceptance is a wonderful thing, especially when it goes both ways.
