Funky Yankee Baby-kun
A delinquent yaoi that focuses substantially on the fighting and battle for dominance. Chiaki is a loan shark who is like a smiling assassin, always friendly while being ready to use brute force. He helps his old university friend to capture Kikuka, the tiny yet lethal leader of the school delinquents who is in dire need of some remedial classes and Chiaki is just the man to drag him there. The dynamic between Kikuka and Chiaki is true to their characters. There is no softness in their relationship and yet it’s undeniably romantic amidst the blood, broken bones and bruises. Very entertaining, great art.
Kimi to Deattekara Boku wa
A sensei x student story that respects the boundaries of student/ teacher relationships made for a really sweet story. Career counsellor Honda-san is a rumpled and kind but misjudged teacher who is asked to counsel 3rd year student, Endo. Lacking any clear goal, Endou had decided to simply enter the workforce, however time spent with Honda made him realise that the teacher most thought was standoffish and scary was actually gentle and interested in his students. I loved how honest Endo was and the way Honda tried to keep things respectable while they were in the student x teacher roles. Very sweet story.
Snow Fairy
Such a sweet story. The seemingly serious and lonely Haruki runs a farm in Hokkaido. When he encounters encounters a handsome and charismatic nature photographer stranded on a snowy day, Haruki kindly invites him to stay at his house. Narumi, who came from Tokyo to photograph snow fairies, is drawn to his host and over the days and weeks that they spend together, both men start to be aware that there is more to their feelings than friendship. The story follows them through a long winter and is full of beautiful art and warm feelings. Shounen ai, not Yaoi, but still very close bonds were formed.
Hajimemashite no Koi
Wealthy young master Arata Shino'oka, falls head over heels in love with Chihiro Kiritani on the rainy evening they first met. Seeking to get to know him better, Shino takes on a part time job at the quiet little tearoom where Chihiro works. Over the following months their friendship deepens and while others can see the growing love, the MCs need a little encouragement to say what they need to say. The story is cute and sweet with a rival thrown in to stir things up.
Saiaku no Jinsei
Koisuru Sono Jijou wa (Fetish story) Does Akutagawa love his boyfriend Miike or is he simply obsessed with the nape of his neck? Saiaku no Jinsei (Delinquent story) 3rd year Kawashima senpai is a rough delinquent who's always had a shitty life. His scowling face, violent personality and reputation for fights have him and his actions under constant judgement from those around him. When he steps in to save 1st year Sayama from a bully, he strikes up a tentative friendship with the talented but ambitionless kouhai. Sayama’s easygoing personality and interest in Kawashima had him see the kind side and misjudgment that was imposed on senpai. From their awkward start, these boys both had a huge impact on each other's lives. The story is a little sad at times, but it’s also sweet how much their meeting changed their lives.
Sono Kareshi, Kikan Gentei Nitsuki
Bookworm, Chitose Yuzumoto gets a surprise confession from his classmate Riku Hidaka, the ex-captain of the baseball team! Although shocked, Chitose agrees to be Riku’s boyfriend for 2 weeks of making memories and hanging out together, with no sexual pressure. Naturally, these two nice guys are so cute together. They have some amazing honesty as well as the expected insecurities that hold them back, but this is a HEA story of opposites falling for each other. Very cute, fluffy and wholesome, this is a feel good story not to miss.
Ore to Omae no Stalker Boushihou
Seems that lots of readers found Yamada’s stalker like tendencies problematic, but I loved his super possessive nature and slightly yanderish obsession with Chino. As an ex delinquent, Chino could more than hold his own against Yamada if needed and there were a few instances of him putting his foot down (on Yamada’s chest lol). I think that what made me like Yamada so much is that he is fiercely protective of Chino and the stalker prince has a surprisingly gentle nature. So for me, this was a winner!
Like Two Peas in a Pod
There was a little more heartache in this than I expected. Classmates Tanaka and Nakata had a lot in common. So much in fact, they were like 2 peas in a pod. But their differences were sweet too, with Tanaka being more outgoing and sociable, and Nakata more introverted and quiet. When Tanaka got a girlfriend and Nakata realised his feelings, the story gave all the pangs of an unrequited love. Thank goodness for best girl Futaba by Nakata’s side. I almost wished this was a shoujo she was such a sweetie.
Come on-a My House
Amiable workaholic, Koichi has just moved into his own apartment. Holding two jobs, he is determined to build a nest egg and to live a peaceful life. That was soon to end as one night as Koichi stumbled upon one of his regular customers, the good looking yet unfriendly Reiji, trying to help an abandoned kitten in the pouring rain. Little did Koichi know, but soon Reiji and the kitten would be taking up space in his home and his heart.
A Nonsense Relationship
