Jigoku Meguri
Death, penance, reincarnations; this story was an intricate weave of love and loss and second chances that was strangely enjoyable. This is no easy journey to love, but the connections are strong enough to be seen as inevitable soul bonding.
Akai Hana
Super short, but super touching and bittersweet.
Keeper of the Pearl
A wonderful epic Omegaverse story that took the reader to the past, present and future with two fated souls and a second chance to do things right. The history had me shedding a few tears as my heart broke, but their beautiful future was pure good feelings. Fated mates with a caring and protective alpha and his vulnerable yet strong omega. Highly recommended.
UNcontrol - Shingeki no Kyojin dj
This had some lovely angst from the past and a reincarnation angle that really seemed fated. So much so, with the past connection, finding each other again and loving each other so much, it makes no sense that they aren’t fated mates. What more does it take than a dying promise to find you again, dreaming about you your whole life, finding you and falling madly in love to be a FM? Crazy.. Other than that, I loved this.
Demon of Lustful Hell
This story really lived up to its title in the beginning. There was rape and dub con and endless sex and I could sort of overlook a lot of the forced sex because we were dealing with demons. It’s just that there was little to no plot and character development when it’s just sex scene after sex scene. Ryoichi was such a weak seeming uke who sexually responded to anything (I still don’t see the need for that). It was all that irritating “no, no” while having some sort of body that was out of his control (and it wasn’t Yonosuke because he wanted positive outcomes) and endless remarks about falling pregnant (which never eventuates) and it all stagnated for me. I came so close to either dropping it or bookmarking and returning later (pretty much the same thing tbh). But then! Then it was like a different writer came on board. The actual story progressed and the author did a great job stirring pangs of empathy and sorrow for Yonosuke, and liking for Aroku as he softened towards Ryoichi and FINALLY some signs of Ryo being strong and loving enough to face the tough challenge of being a demons mate. The story was so good in the second half. I even got all teary over their time on Earth, that was so beautiful. Really, a lovely ending too. It would have been nice to see Ryo have a baby and watch Aroku be a dad (especially after the huge focus initially on him falling pregnant) but at least there were some panels at the end that let us see it would happen.
I'm Mediocre ♂, But I'm Loved in A Different World Anthology Comics
So much fun with these one shot stories all set around the theme of being reincarnated in a BL manga or otaku game with awareness enough to change the established course of events. From MPreg and giving birth, to being reborn as a baby to being a powerful wizard determined to bring happiness to an abused hero, these were all perfect bite sized stories that I wish were longer.
Ayakashi Tsukai no Yome Sagashi
Akon Tenkawa has been searching for the reincarnated soul of the man he loved for hundreds of years. As an Izuna Master (able to use his fox spirit Eika Byakko, to make premonitions and cast spells) he sent Eika out to guide Ryuuichirou Hinano to him once his soul was found. In this lifetime, Ryuuichirou is a University student who is shocked and in denial that he has any past life, let alone one where he loves a man. I liked this story for the power of Akon’s love. He lived many lonely lifetimes so his happiness at finding Ryuuichirou and his eagerness to love him was really quite sweet. Trigger Warning: Rape, control, abuse, pain, blood play, violence (seriously..you are warned). The second story followed Akons’ fox ayakashi Eika and his long time arch nemesis Mamoru the dog ayakashi (and mountain God). While Eika was used to fighting other ayakashi, he had never faced one as crazed and powerful as Mamoru. The mountain god has no human compassion or gentleness, but he wanted to claim for himself a version of human love and he wanted Eika. The way he claimed the fox spirit was with extreme force and dominance, blood and pain. If you are into blood play you may like this story just be warned that consent between these creatures was non existent. I think the only way you could have such a yandere and obsessed relationship with this amount of violence is with non human demon spirits. Keeping their natures in mind I went with the story, but I am not a big fan of power imbalance in relationships and would like to see more power or control from Eika to make their dynamic more interesting.
Ellin's Solhwa
I am usually a bonafide yaoi reader, but something about this story plot grabbed my attention and I thought to try a few chapters. Well, 52 chapters later and I finish with a few tear tracks but a happy feeling. There was something so beautiful about Ellin’s determination to grasp happiness, it was really an irresistible trait she personified. Then there was Advisor Kiha’s dedicated loyalty and love, even when events transpired that would cause anyone to wonder. He was remarkably unshakeable in his love and faith in Ellin, and that was melt worthy. Seriously, an excellent story with some beautiful artwork.
Fiancée of the Wizard
A sweet story. Philomena is reincarnated into the body of a child on a magic filled fantasy world. Her childhood best friend is the black haired magic user Eddie, a wary boy who had been abused by his family for bearing the dark colouring of a magic user. Whilst pouring over magical tomes and grimoires together they form the beginning of a lifelong bond that grows from friendship to love. However, loving the most powerful magic user in their nation has its drawbacks, especially when your stubborn love is determined to protect you. I appreciated the strong ties between Philly and Eddie. Their love for each other was always an obvious priority between the two opposites.
