Sleeps In Sunbeams's manga / #Manhua/Manhwa(113)

This was a story that makes your heart ache (no play on words intended). Danoh is an extra in a school romance manhwa; even worse she has a terminal illness. When she attains self awareness she strives to take some control from the author and change her story. However, making changes is not easy. The unfolding love story was poignant and often had me feeling sad because they were really at the mercy of the creator and their concept. However, the art was absolutely beautiful and the characters thoughtfully designed and overall this was a great story to read (through the tears).

A fun story about 17yo school girl Lin Xiaoqi who gets summoned to a distant world with three of her classmates. One of them is the expected reincarnation of the daughter of the Phoenix God who will make a wish to benefit the nation. However, Lin Xiaoqi becomes separated from her friends immediately and is helped by the servant of the third prince, Ye Li to reunite. The FL here is bubbly, energetic and full of commonsense and practicality. She doesn’t always wait for rescue and is brave enough to strike out on her own and take charge of her destiny. I really enjoyed her optimistic enthusiasm and her relationship with the deadly and intensely loyal Ye Li. The first half of the story was Lin Xiaoqi and Ye Li’s romance and adventures and the second half was of some of their predecessors, including the first daughter of the Phoenix God and the human she loved. The fact that the souls of their forebears were recognisably tied to their current souls (reincarnated) was icing on the cake for the first half of the story. These guys were a fated pair of destined lovers who were forever drawn to each other. Totally irresistible.

This fairy tale of a story was adorable. It had a rather evil winter magician with a frozen heart named Larmanilla, a human named Romeade fulfilling his dying mother’s wish to travel to the winter magicians castle, tiny fox butlers and servants, a savagely giant guard dog, and a magical golden apple tree. When Romeade came to the castle he became the chef and spent the next 5 years working for the temperamental Larmanilla. His trustworthy heart and warm meals gradually endeared him to the magician, and the story followed their budding romance through some unexpected twists and turns. The story was slow paced yet actually packed a lot in at the same time. There were morals along the way (like any good fairy tale) such as the high cost of greed and spots of dark humour and ruthless actions that added some texture to the fluffiness of the story. It was definitely a story I enjoyed.

Beautiful art and a story that does it justice. The masculinity that rolled off Ulaan was seriously sexy and I loved the touch of vulnerability that he shared only with Yuwan. Sexy banter and intensity between the MCs, this was a delight to read, even the unpolished chapters. Secretary to a demanding CEO and budding author Eom Boran, is the FL with an intense dislike for her boss. Kwon Sehu is successful, talented and handsome. He is also bossy, with frighteningly high standards and did I mention demanding? When Kwon’s nephew wanted to meet the author of his favourite book he put out every effort to find the reluctant author who was hiding right under his nose. Only what would happen when he realises that the villain in the book is based on him? I thought that this story was sweet. The FL was no damsel seeking a man. She was a professional woman who justifiably disliked her boss. But as they got to know each other better he showed his vulnerable side and greater understanding of each other led slowly (for her) to love. I thought the ending was particularly satisfying. This is a recommended read.

Lonely and reclusive wizard Ye-Zhu has a job as a salaryman. His life over the last century and a half has been one of isolation as he tries to protect the humans around him from the evil misfortunes that arise when witches and humans spend time together. There was only one instance when he spent time with a person since he was turned into a witch, and that golden haired charmer has reappeared in his life wanting to be close to him. So begins the determined pursuit of a sad little witch by an angelic man. I liked the story. Ye-Zhu‘s friends the dragon and potion making witch were interesting and fun, and Qi Qi was an impressive mix of adorable puppy eyes, ruthlessness and charm. It’s just Ye-Zhu was often depressed and it’s hard to get as attached to someone so negative. I am glad he grew in mental fortitude by the end and got a HEA.

This had a pretty good story for an ecchi story with tentacles. They probably spent a bit too much time having sex with others for it to be romantic but there was a sweetness to their feelings for each other. Took them long enough. A great story if you are after some smut.

If you are looking for a short, hotly erotic story with beautiful colour panels and well drawn characters then this is the oneshot for you. Not my favourite kind of story usually, as I prefer emotional connections between characters, but this did have a competitive banter between the MCs and it was all safely within the realms of fantasy. Or was it? Unashamedly hardcore, this was a gem in its genre.

A hot little story about meeting the new, twin, soon to be step brothers for Eunsoo. When his mother first tells him about her new boyfriend she didn’t mention that he came with two sons, Jaeyeon and Jaekyung. The twins immediately set out to claim the little florist and make him theirs. I love a good 3P if the three make it work. The twins were hotly focused on Eunsoo and totally swept him along. In return, Eunsoo was a willing thrall to their interest. No love was declared but there was the potential for that with more time. All were equally invested in each other by the end.

It’s a very fast paced story about a holiday fling following a painful breakup. The characters are cute and end up really caring for each other, but there’s not a lot of depth. Plenty of smut squeezed in there, shame it was censored.
