So much fun with these one shot stories all set around the theme of being reincarnated in a BL manga or otaku game with awareness enough to change the established course of events. From MPreg and giving birth, to being reborn as a baby to being a powerful wizard determined to bring happiness to an abused hero, these were all perfect bite sized stories that I wish were longer.

This Time I Will Definitely Be Happy

Complete | Fujimaru mamenosuke / saiki rico | 2000 released

A lovely story with quite a few moments that tugged at my heartstrings. The Heroes love for Louisa was deep and true, and he never gave up on the girl he loved. The end of the story was the bittersweet style of a life well lived surrounded by love. It’s enough to make you shed a few tears and yet feel happy at the same time.

Torezoa ~Boku no Takaramono~

Complete | sachimo | 2019 released

Trigger Warning: Rape As a long time lover of RPG games, I appreciate the effort to create a story in a RPG world. In this one though, we join the elf wizard Phil, and human hero warrior Takamasa, at the end of their main quest. They are now continuing to travel the world together in search of elves and for reasons that made no sense Phil would occasionally force himself on Takamasa and then wipe his memories. Sure, Phil believed that Takamasa loved the princess, but I don’t believe that the rapes were given any rationale. Firstly, because Phil showed no deep attachment to Takamasa beyond the friendship of a child who has grown up in his company (at least not during the beginning when the rapes happened). Secondly, elves didn’t even mate in the human way but through a mind connection. It just didn’t make sense! Obviously, by the end of the story there was more of a feeling of them being a couple, but it was through Takamas’s efforts, not Phil’s. Apart from that glaring story flaw, I liked the 2 travelling and adventuring together as a couple and the art was really quite pretty. I would probably read it again simply for the fantasy adventure feeling of the story, I just wish that if rape was going to be used for plot development that the one initiating it was shown to be going through some mental or emotional conflict but driven by overwhelming emotions or at least be a race that had sex.. o(>.<)o

Yuujin ga Yuusha

Complete | Chocodoughnuts | 2012 released

Very sweet and full of yearning, this story grabbed my emotions and scattered them in a mess that had me in tears yet happy at the same time. Each meeting in heaven between the shepherd and the hero was precious, coming at the cost of life for the hero yet savoured and uniquely theirs. I loved the emotional intensity that came with the simplicity of the story, and the genuine feelings of love between the MCs. Fluffy, feel good, beautiful but with a touch of loneliness.

Bokura No Pink

Complete | Saijou Ayano | 2009 released

A lighthearted story about 1st year Momoko who is determined to leave her embarrassing hero show obsession in middle school and start her high school career as someone cool. That was, until she was asked to join the highly respected Hero Club as Pink, set to join the all boy squad of Red, Blue and Green. With a totally incompetent wooing by a clueless ML who keeps his shoes in his mouth for the number of times he puts his foot in, this was fun and silly and sweet. Definitely some laughs, a cute story overall.

Hetare Maou to Tsundere Yuusha

Ongoing | Natsuno haruo | 2019 released

Completed story Cute little story of Prince Ike’s sojourn to make a name for himself and become a hero. Any good human would believe that a personal quest to take out the demon king would be a worthy quest, but Noah, Demon King of Mano is not that easy to kill. Firstly, his guards knock Ike out. Then the Demon King takes him in to care for his recovery. Even worse when Ike wakes and persists in his plan, the Demon King proves too elusive to even touch. But it’s all over for Ike when he falls for the gentle gardener king who treats him like he is precious. This was a surprisingly fluffy story about love in unexpected places and I loved how even the scariest monsters had a reasonable side.
