Shen Sheng

Complete | Xuan Zhe | 2000 released

~ one of the best BLs on this platform hands-down. cheng mu and shen sheng have such a healthy relationship, quickly solving disputes and commicating with each other. the perfect pacing, with tons of fluff. no sexual abuse, no dragging plot arcs. the beginning all the way to the end was filled with everything i wanted to see not only in shounen ais, but BL in general. as always, there are a few strings left hanging. i wonder what happens with blonde dude's feelings for shen sheng, i can only assume he'll eventually get over him. what happens to the actor and the blonde dude's relationship (not too sure how i feel about that one, kinda stepbrothers but not really)? it would be lovely to see side stories for this! the seme isn't hypermasculine, while the uke isn't afraid to say what he wants. makes the characters feel incredibly realistic, i love both of them sm <3 'shen sheng' should be more hyped up!!

Heesu in Class 2

~ heesu and seungwon are the cutest couple ever! this was such a wholesome, light-hearted bl that made me smile throughout the plot. there wasn't any unnecessary conflicts that put stress on their relationship, and if there was a problem, they made sure to talk it out. a healthy relationship that surpassed all hardships. it's such a nice break to read a shounen ai after all the dark yaoi i've been reading. the more i read fluffy stories, the more i feel myself leaning towards this type of genre instead of yaoi. very unexpected since i usually wouldn't have read anything without smut before. however, i realized that i got to see heesu develop his feelings slowly and move on from chanyoung which would never take as long in a yaoi. the turning point was somewhere around the 30th chapter, but i never felt like it was dragging and boring. i loved LOVED the pacing of this manga so much, both of them taking their time to see how they feel about each other and building a relationship out of love n trust was so heartwarming to see. i like how the setup for the plot is very simple, a basic coming of age school bl, but the characters are really what make this an enjoyable read. seungwon is such a soft seme, and cares about heesu unconditionally. it was nice to see a seme who wasn't overally masculine, and a uke that wasn't overally feminine. they had their own personalities not tied to their "roles" which made the story not only feel more realistic, but made the characters seem like humans. many yaoi mangas fail to achieve this, which makes me appreciate this shounen ai even more! i loved everything about this, at times it was even healing how heesu was moving on from his decade long crush. chanyoung wasn't annoying like i thought he would be and helped the main couple get together. watching heesu and seungwon navigate their first relationship with each other was so cute, and we got sooo many fluffy scenes. i started crying when it showed they were already married, how cute can this be ?? i had more interest in the side couple (dahm and sunwoo) and i wish we got to see what happened next, but i'm satisfied enough knowing they met again after 8 YEARS jesus christ. i would give this more stars if i could, i wish i read this a lot earlier. so many things i missed out on! this manga is definitely top 3 of my favorite BLs i've read so far.

~ my favorite psychological bl i've read so far, and one of my new faves in general. i read 50+ chapters in a day, i think that goes to show how much i enjoyed this. the small details in this story really shaped the plot and made me appreciate the characters even more. it broke my heart that kister's dream was to become a leading actor, and everything he's done was for jonathan's sake. he played his role well, without any breaks in character, in order to protect the one he likes and to put an end to his twin's killing spree. it's ironic how everything came full cirlcle (kister got the biggest role of his lifetime), and i think it's one of the first times that i don't see any plot holes within the main plot. i honestly thought robert was gonna be an unnecessary obstacle in the plot, but i'm glad the author made him a SUPPORTING character instead of a rival. the tension that built up with each additional conflict made me anxious to see what would happen next. the climax (around ch. 60) hit me hard, i would have never suspected any of the twists the author included. from the twin being the actual killer, and kister being in love with jonathan since 2 years ago, to the cliff accident, nothing ceased to amaze me. baron was painted out to be the killer in the first half of the story, and i think it was an interesting move to make. i believe that it definitely captured my attention even more. each character didn't seem trustworthy, even jonathan's friends, and that added to the uneasy feeling i had while reading this. i couldn't help but picture myself in his situation, being chased by two killers and being held hostage, which made me even more captivated by how jonathan was able to handle this madness. i have a thing for wanting the main couple of psychological BLs to somehow end up together despite knowing the toxicity of the characters and story. i, in no way, support rape or abuse whether verbal or physical, irl or in manga. however, if the character has some trauma (often the epicenter of conflict in a psy. bl) seeing another person help them get through that and having an intriguing clash in personalities is something i really like seeing. an angel that plays the role of a "savior" or someone constant in their bleak life void of affection warms my heart, especially when they change for the better. that's why, i always root for these type of couples to be together in the end but i'm aware that irl, changing someone by yourself without (professional) help will often hurt you instead. because of how the plot unraveled, it made jonathan and kister's (potential, most likely will turn into lovers) relationship the most plausible. that's why i'm beyond happy with 'criminal interview' from beginning to end, and i'd definitely reread this one! hope there's side stories so we can see their life together and how they start anew :D

~ everything about this was immaculate. the story was well paced, the dialogue was actually funny and added character depth, and the art was full of detail. if I get attached to the characters by the end of the bl, ik it was an amazing story! i can't help but want more of this couple; this short manga has sm potential to be the same length as 'cherry blossoms after winter' but without the story drag. i tend to jump the gun and say BLs are refreshing if the have don't have rapey scenes or toxic semes, since my standard has lowered quite a bit since reading yaoi (and witnessing the most infuriating shit #tired...of_this_shit). i can say with confidence, that this manga, is v much REFRESHING in many ways. it kept the reader on their toes of who would be the seme and uke, which i have never experienced before. they might be a reversible couple, but that's just a guess. tbh i thought the seme would bottom, due to his small build, short height, and playful personality. it's adorable how the uke takes care of the seme as if he were the top himself. they don't enforce the stereotypes that come with their sexual roles. ex : seme = manly, dominant, sometimes rude, confident. uke = timid, meek, woman-like, no opinions of their own, DEMURE. the comedy was incorporated so effortlessly, to the point where the author didn't even have to change the art style to make it funny. it was naturally funny, since the comedic aspects were included in the characters' personalities, making them more relatable but comic-like in a sense. they are both stupid, and dumb, and childlike, but playful. they fight at the silliest things, and they act in the most outlandish ways. however, that's what makes them so unique and lovable. the characters, their personalities and how they go about their relationship is what makes this BL stand out from the rest. p.s. seme kinda looks like that one from fall for me by songha.
