Candy Man
Dropped at ch. 24 I know this is fiction, and i read crazy psycho stories before and enjoyed them. Now that that's been said, i really dislike this particular comic. Why? Because it's so frustrating! Yummin shows No bit of character development and I'm halfway through already. I don't dislike fictional depictions of toxic relationships, I love dark stories, but here it's just played down and yummins craziness is not really taken seriously, which i really find boring and annoying to a degree. Like, Yorong acknowledges the fact that yummin is crazy possessive, and is actually scared, but then just proceeds to fall in love with him and overlooks his creepy actions all of a sudden? Imo, toxic relationships and comedy don't mix well in toons and manga, but to each their own I guess. Would have loved for the story to actually lead to a bad end or different development, but since I read the comments I have no hopes anymore, so this will be dropped. For anyone who enjoyed this read: good for you, I hope I find some toxic tragedy stories that fit my taste better next time haha.
Akari to Kare wa Nayamashii
Despite the troublesome age gap, the story didn't give me the ick like the usual manga with this trope. I really liked the characters and the art. I found Akaris story to be much more interesting and fleshed out (although rushed, e. g. Mizuki returning his romantic affection suddenly) than his friends' Lovestory. Other than the parts where one keeps getting reminded that Akari is 16 (so casually I wonder if Japanese audiences care at all, it's kinda fascinating) it put me off, or rather made me laugh out loud, whenever Mizuki was described as being "straight". The side character mentioned himself being Bisexual, so how come mizuki is still perceived as being "straight" by everyone involved, it's hilarious actually (and again I wonder about cultural differences maybe). Now, the comments (or rather "Topics") are a wild ride, like half of them can't separate fiction and reality, and the other half is trying a little too hard to justify things without sounding like they're condoning it irl. But in the end there's really not much to argue or justify. It's a BL manga, we're not here to get education or anything of substance
