The story is a really great example of what fatalism looks like from the outside. The uke has a fatalistic personality. The reason the story seems disjointed is because we never hear what is happening inside the uke's head. WHICH IS HOW LIFE IS. We never know what is happening in someone else's head. We don't see how a seemingly insignificant action on our part can trigger an avalanche of negative thoughts for someone else. This is annoying / confusing / disconcerting for regular manga readers because this format is unusual. We often see both side's thoughts within a two page span.
