Shibutani-kun Tomo no Kai

Complete | fujieda toru | 2000 released

At the time I read this story, it was dropped and the last volume was still missing...I remember that I was really loving the story and then when the ending finally came, I was so disappointed. I loved Range and Ageha and I wanted them to end up together. Not simply because I love BL, but I was especially rooting for them, because I liked their relationship, their interaction and everything. That's just my personal taste of course, but I really think it would have been perfect that way. I knew that Ageha would end up with Nina, the girl he liked since the beginning, but still I couldn't abandon my hope to see him together with Range... My poor Range ♡

Diamond Dust

Complete | Kang Hyung-Gyu | 2000 released

"I heard that up at the North Pole, bits of ice get swept up by the wind and float around...and when light from the sun hits them, they sparkle, like diamonds...If you try to catch those little pieces with your hands, they disappear...Although the world really seems like a beautiful thing, you can't catch everything..." ➸ Diamond Dust certainly caught my attention. After reading it, I can say that it's really heatbreaking, but imo it's a great, emotional story. I think it's well written. Personally, I liked the plot, how it was developed and its narrative structure with many flashbacks: I was hooked! I also liked the characters and I think the art-style is unique...the atmosphere and the perspective of certain scenes are amazing! ➸ I think certain encounters happen becuase of fate...and maybe that was the case for Moon HyeRin, a piano prodigy who tried to take her own life, and Lee JooWon, an indie band's vocalist who desperately wanted to live! That is an encounter that will change HyeRin and her life! They both were having a difficult life, because of different circumstances, and what they had in common was the love for music... [Containing spoilers] When they first meet in the story, that's actually a reencounter, because they already met four years earlier in New York, as we find out later through the flashback. However, it's like a first time meeting, because they don't remember each other: she has repressed memories and he has amnesia. So, it was interesting to see how they interacted. HyeRin's mind erased that memory in which she experienced immense happiness, because she knew that the freedom she felt that day would never come again. Still, after meeting him again, she could move her fingers, which had been stiff for three years already, so she felt that there was definitely a connection and she remembered soon after. On the other hand, JooWon had more difficulty becuase of his condition, but then he also managed to remember their first meeting...yes, he remembered! It was emotional when HyeRin read on the piece of paper "We met in New York". And in the process of all this, they fell in love with each other! "If I am with HyeRin, even this foggy world is beautiful. I have to live. I want to live". Yet, time was running out for JooWon...ahhh my poor heart! ╥﹏╥ ➸ It's certainly sad and it bought tears to my eyes, but it's a beautiful touching story! So, for me it's worth reading it and I recommend it, especially to those who for example loved Koizora and were moved by it. ➸ Digital Comic with Audio - Original webtoon: http://cartoon.media.daum.net/webtoon/view/diamonddust

Orange Marmalade

Complete | seok woo | 2000 released

Vampire x Human + Slow Romance - I loved Orange Marmalade, not only because I liked the romance, but also the plot and the supportive characters. Well, the story is actually bittersweet, with all the bullying, Ma Ri's attempted suicide, Jae Min's traumatic past etc., but it's also funny, so I enjoyed reading it. Of course, Jung Jae Min and Baek Ma Ri are such an adorable couple: I really liked their interaction, especially at the beginning...it was so funny that embarassing scene on the train (*≧▽≦)ノシ)) [Containing spoilers] But I have to say that I really wanted to punch Jae Min when he called Ma Ri a disgusting blood-sucking monster! Geez, I thought that she was worried for nothing because he'd accept her without a doubt, but the twist of fate wanted that he actually hated vampires because his mother abandoned him to be with a vampire! That changed everything...arghh I didn't expect that! He resented her mother for that, but he fell in love with a vampire himself without knowing! And he found out about Ma Ri being a vampire in such a bad way! I was so sad for our cute Ma Ri, how Jae Min's words hurt her...they got me worried, but then he finally accepted her and it was a happy ending!! I also liked whitie, Han Sihoo: I thought he was cool when he helped Ma Ri and dealt with blondie, Jo Ah Ra, but also when he punched Jae Min and spoke to him (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧ The only problem is that at the end his relationship with Chaerin seemed a bit off...I mean, after he treated her like that and after what she did as a consequence (btw she didn't even apologize for what she did to Ma Ri), he ended up with her just like that!? That didn't make any sense. He didn't love her, but it seemed as if he decided to keep that burden! I think he deserved a better ending, as he was a relevant character in the story. And the ending surely seemed rushed...that's why I'm not a fan of time skip. Anyway, overall I think it's a really good story. I really liked it and it was different from other cliché vampire stories. In fact, despite the core is discrimination against vampires, the story conveys a more general message alluding to our society, as it portrays harsh aspects of real life such as bullying, prejudice, racism etc.

Kimi ga Uso o Tsuita

Complete | YORITA Miyuki | 2009 released

Tags for myself: Accident, Illegitimate child, Adopted child, Orphan, Dead Family Members, Special Ability, Lie Detector, Lies, Long-Lost Siblings, False Incest, Princely Male Lead, Older Male Younger Female, Love Triangle, Cohabitation, Time Skip, Marriage After an accident in which she nearly dies, Saki wakes up to find that she has a new ability: she can see when people are lying, as they turn black to her eyes! She comes to realize that there are liars all around her... - Having special abilities may be a double-edged sword, as at times it may not be a very convenient power or may even be painful, but stories like this are always cool to read! As expected, I really liked this one! ➸ What Saki, who always hated liars because of her father, comes to realize in the end is like the moral of the story - "People lie...but behind those lies are various reasons. That's why we forgive...and move on. The truth is something that I will find on my own..." - and the author chose an interesting plot to develope the idea. The story results to be well-written. Well, it's only the ending that felt kinda rushed and there was also time skip, which I'm not a fan of, but overall it's a really good story.

Reimei No Arcana

Complete | toma rei | 2009 released

୨ "A story of fate that begins from a wedding ceremony..." The feels! This is one of those stories which gave me an emotional attachment...a story I'll never forget! It's a great fantasy tale with an amazing plot! The setting is fascinating: there are two countries that have been at war for 200 years; royalty; sub-people|ajins (half-humans, half-animals) and intriguing special power. I liked the concept of the arcana: such a mysterious power, of different types, that goes beyond human imagination and that is the core of the whole story. It was definitely interesting. And till the very end there are some amazing plot twists, which could be somehow predicted through the clues left along the story, but that are still compelling! A story like this didn't fail to catch my attention! Also, I really like stories in which the characters are enemies at first, but then they fall deeply in love with each other...especially in historical setting! I liked all the characters and their growth. In particular, I liked how Caesar was changed by love. At first, he was mean and he bullied Nakaba, but then he became kind and he was so sweet. I was eager to see the development of their relationship. And Nabaka is a type of female lead that I really like. I think she had always been a strong girl, but in the beginning she was discriminated and couldn't do anything about it...then along the story she became truly powerful. I really liked her evolution. Last but not least, I love red-haired characters. >> It would be great if this manga was to be adapted into anime!!

Esu

Complete | Aida Saki,Nara Chiharu | 2005 released

BL Novel by Aida Saki (Writer), Nara Chiharu (Illustrator) ☛ I love Aida Saki's stories...they're simply amazing! Esu, together with Nara Chiharu's charismatic illustrations, is the best! 4 intense volumes, filled with action tangled with dangerous romance, which pulled me in completely...For me it's truly a well-written masterpiece! I liked everything: the plot, the narrative structure, the characters and, of course, the erotic sex scenes! Without a doubt, what I liked the most is the interaction between Shiiba and Munechika. I loved their encounter, how they were so terribly attracted to each other, and then also desperately in love with each other, the development of their relationship, from detective and S to lovers, and the couple growth, through drama and passion. They're both interesting characters. Munechika is such an irresistible seme!! He's hot and strong, cool and charismatic, wild and sexy, and I could go on and on! Shiiba is a fascinating character, in his own way. I liked him as well, with his inner conflicts, his determination to find the one who shot her sister, and finally his growth along the story. I loved when he finally said: "I swear a million times. I love you, only you..."~♡ Ahh, reading this, I really felt so many emotions! Well, vol. 2 was actually so sad and heartbreaking. It was interesting and I loved to read about Nagakura & his S, Mao, but it was so tragic! [Containing spoilers - I cried my eyes out when Nagakura was shot, right when he was about to turn himself in, to face up to his crime of having killed Kunugi...and to think that Mao didn't tell him where the weapons were, because he wanted to stay with him: he thought that if Nagakura was to find them, then he wouldn't need him anymore...ahhh just thinking about it, I want to cry again...( T ^ T ) Also, in the final volume, there's the death of Godou, who, after all, was already beyond salvation and that was the only ending one would expect for him at that point...but I still think he was an interesting character in the story and interesting was also the part when his past was revealed, with all that twisted family situation. Being the result of an incestuous affair between his mother and his uncle (her brother), being then abused by that mother, whom he killed after she remained pregnant with his child...Godou couldn't not be a contorted character...] So, Esu is actually bittersweet, as there are also tragedy and sad moments in the story, but it's very beautiful. At the end, I liked that Kiri got pregnant with Godou's child...I thought her pregnancy was really simbolic. Also, when Shiiba and Munechika finally reunited, I couldn't stop smiling and being happy for those two...such a perfect ending!! I'm sure I'll never forget this story!

(()) Intense, melodramatic and angsty student x teacher story. To be honest, as soon as I started reading this, I thought I wasn't going to like it...but, as I read a bit more, I changed my opinion. Overall, I liked it, not only because I like student x teacher theme, which was the main reason I wanted to read it, but I also like dramatic, tragic stories. [May spoil] The ending was sad indeed, but good at the same time in my opinion. A bittersweet tragedy I'd say...Personally, I liked it! 4 Volumes (Complete)
