Female General and Eldest Princess

// Complete // Can't help it, this is one of those coming of age gems I love to read, so I loved it so much! The dynamics and interaction between the characters were also my type. And I love this author's art style: somehow this type of trait made me feel like I was really reading a story between two guys. I really loved the vibe of this story! I liked how the author portrayed the confused, new sensations of two innocent boys in puberty. I also liked the thing about communicating through letters. Nowadays it may seem so outdated, but, even if it's a fictional story, I was glad to see that there was someone like Natsume who appreciated this kind of thing, as I am into vintage stuff myself. Anyway, I liked everything from beginning to end and the pace and development, so I'm really satisfied. By the way, I really like the title "Growing Pains". And I was somehow touched when I read the afterword because the author said she wrote this story with all of her preferences in mind and I liked all the things she said! Those are exactly the ones I love too. No wonder then that I loved this! It was really the story for me! And I have this fulfilling feeling, you know, that you have when you finally come across your kind of story. I'm so glad I found this! ^^ > It reminded me a bit of the story "Shiro No Koro".
Umi de Hirotta Kimi ni Sasagu
【】A popular novelist who's currently having a writer's block finds at the beach a young man, unconscious and naked! What is more, once awaken, it seems the man has also lost his memory... ⇝ I don't like to rush into making guesses, but obviously something's up! I think the mystery guy already knew the novelist, as he knew about his debut work...he may be fan or opposite...anyway, we still don't know about his circumstances and why he was in that condition, but I feel their meeting must be a fateful one...the young man will probably be the reason the novelist will be able to write again and maybe even write a book about|dedicated to him haha I don't know, I got that idea from the title, "For You, Who I Picked up On the Beach".

️5 stars for the main|title story! I really liked the way it was written...so good! Est Em's stories are always unique, not only for the art style but also for the concepts and the writing style, and I love that! Here, the theme of traditional indigo dyeing was very interesting. And I liked how the conflicted feelings of the two protagonists were portrayed. Their feelings could really be felt. As I love family-affair stories, I really liked this. By the way, I liked the quote about dyeing which was used as metaphor for their feelings and relationship. I also liked the parallelism of the parts about their respective "returns": first when Taisei returns home, as we see better in ch. 6, Kouta is inside and sees him through the window and calls out his name; then when in the end Kouta is the one returning home, Taisei is the one inside and seeing him calls his name. An impressive story, as expected from sensei. Too bad that here it's so criminally underrated!️ # Brother x Adopted Brother (Kouta's mother died when he was little. Then, when his father died, he was taken in by Taisei's family, as his father was working and living at their dyeing studio.) [[Ch. 7 & 8 are two unrelated oneshots included in this volume respectively called "Swim, Drown, Swim" and "Snow Falling Silently" // I honestly didn't care for these two short stories. Ch. 7 was not my thing and ch. 8 was not bad but it was just a peek at a couple of roommates on a snowy day. They weren't even exactly BL, but they certainly were unique as well.]]
