High-school Student (17) x Older Sister's friend|Novelist (24) One of my old favourites. I think it's one of the best BL from the 90s. Probably many works took inspiration from this later on, especially in regard to age-gap theme, so it's a story to read! To be honest, I don't like psycho ex-lovers still hanging around in an obsessive, stalkery way, trying to take back the person even with force, rape etc., so the whole drama with Ren's ex-lover Hirose was not exactly my type of thing. But overall the story was really good and engaging! Also, I'm weak when it comes to age gap / youth x adult, cohabitating due to certain circumstances and such, so I really enjoyed the interaction and the development of the relationship between Ren and Jouji! In the end, I was so glad to see them looking happy together! > Note: The title "Yume no Kodomo" is actually the title of one of the novels written by Ren. One of the sweetest and most romantic story involving yakuza theme! Two total strangers having a coincidental (but maybe fateful) meeting and falling madly in love with each other with the newfound freshness and excitement of two middle-school students but with a maturity befitting of the grown-up men they're. Unbeknownst of their actual identity, they experience the gentlemanly and romantic love they dreamt of, but they're inevitably soon faced with the reality when they find themselves facing off as enemies in a clash between two rival yakuza groups! However, that will not affect their true love that will prevail over everything else! Ahhh that was beautiful! So sweet and touching at the same time! I loved the reference to the 1950 "Mona Lisa" song all along the story and it really felt like I was watching a movie of a love story that was so beautiful and pure despite its violent background! A true gem...Definitely one of Nishida Higashi's best works!

All the characters are actually gay and the story is realistic and has a bit of comedy and drama! Well, personally I wasn't much interested in the story of the younger brother, but I really liked the main couple, Tamiya and Toudou! So, it's definitely one of my fav old BL!

[[Bisexual Seme x Gay Uke (Seme turned Uke)]] Personally, I'd have loved if they were a reversible couple, because I wanted to see Kuze as uke as well! But overall I really liked it! Many people commented about being confused. In fact, it's a kinda non-linear story-line with many flashbacks, but I think it's actually well-written! And it was real hot! In any case, if you read it twice, I think you'll have a clearer picture, because it's true that at first it may seem kinda jumpy, but the author made it so that, if you put the pieces together like a puzzle, you'll find a unique, interesting underlying story!

Arghh Tbh, I don't care about Hikaru's ex boyfriend, so I wouldn't have minded it much if the story stopped before finishing dealing with that. But I absolutely need to see these two men having sex!! I just really need to see it happening, that's all I ask for! (Btw, I kinda hoped that Masaya wouldn't do it with any other guy, since it was his first time with a guy and I hoped Hikaru would be his first indeed, but overall I really like the story!)

[[SPOILER]] --- In the end, Clark kills Alex, saying he hates him and revealing all his true thoughts about him. He then says it was revenge (because Alex killed the psychiatrist, Clark's ex who fell in love with Alex when he was his patient). > Due to his childhood and how he grew up, Alex became mentally unstable like that. But somehow he was trying to change. To seek the help of the psychiatrist and trying to follow his advices was a sign of that! But then, the doctor's idea to introduce Clark to him was certainly a grave mistake! Clark was the type of person Alex absolutely shouldn't have met at that point of his life! All went wrong from then on. In fact, I think the best outcome would have been if Clark handed him to the authorities at some point, and he had many opportunities to do so, like the inspector who knew everything told him, but he didn't. After all, Clark was a twisted character who indulged Alex only to sate his interest in crime stories. And after the doctor was killed, he decided to kill him himself. In any case, at the very end, it was too late...to get out of there, it was kill or be killed.
