RoseMary's manga / #Sea/Beach(45)

1/3 (chiba Kozue)

Well, it's a bit of a pity, because I liked the setting of the story...but I don't like much this type of female lead and the typical shoujo plot here either...

High-school Students, Childhood Friends, Seaside and Summer?! Man, I couldn't ask for more! Just my kind of story!

Socrates In Love

Complete | Kyoichi Katayama | 2004 released

Adapted from Katayama Kyoichi's popular, heartbreaking novel called "Sekai no Chuushin de, Ai wo Sakebu", which was also adapted into multiple live-actions (Japanese movie and drama, Korean and Chinese movies). > Somehow, considering also the live-actions, this manga adaptation kinda felt like a summary. But it was still a beautiful tragic story!

// Complete // Can't help it, this is one of those coming of age gems I love to read, so I loved it so much! The dynamics and interaction between the characters were also my type. And I love this author's art style: somehow this type of trait made me feel like I was really reading a story between two guys. I really loved the vibe of this story! I liked how the author portrayed the confused, new sensations of two innocent boys in puberty. I also liked the thing about communicating through letters. Nowadays it may seem so outdated, but, even if it's a fictional story, I was glad to see that there was someone like Natsume who appreciated this kind of thing, as I am into vintage stuff myself. Anyway, I liked everything from beginning to end and the pace and development, so I'm really satisfied. By the way, I really like the title "Growing Pains". And I was somehow touched when I read the afterword because the author said she wrote this story with all of her preferences in mind and I liked all the things she said! Those are exactly the ones I love too. No wonder then that I loved this! It was really the story for me! And I have this fulfilling feeling, you know, that you have when you finally come across your kind of story. I'm so glad I found this! ^^ > It reminded me a bit of the story "Shiro No Koro".

Ice Cream Line

Complete | Tashi | 2013 released

// Complete // Very light shounen ai - I must admit that I found it a bit boring to read. But it was not bad! It's just that, while the story seemed inspiring and I was quite liking the first volume indeed, I felt the second somehow went downhill...so I didn't enjoy reading this as much as I thought I would...

Senpai (Bikke)

Complete | bikke | 2010 released

I really liked the calm, relaxing vibe of this story and the slow pace. I liked the setting and its atmosphere, both the scholastic one, with the school building, the art room and the badminton club (which by the way was something a bit different from usual sports clubs), and the natural one, with that beautiful scenery of Kamakura and surroundings. I really loved these aspects and I liked the characters as well. Also, Bikke's art style is very nice. It's just that I gave it 4 stars, because there was something that didn't take me much, like the dead senpai, who was the uke's first boyfriend and, while going out with the uke, he was also going out with a girl although the uke was the one he truly loved, then the seme who resembled that senpai, and senpai's diary that the ex-girlfriend gave to the seme...those elements were not ingredients of my-kind-of-story recipe, you know, so it wasn't one of my favourite stories in that respect, but I really liked it! It was really good. A pure and beautiful story. All in all, it's really a gem!
