One of the sweetest and most romantic story involving yakuza theme! Two total strangers having a coincidental (but maybe fateful) meeting and falling madly in love with each other with the newfound freshness and excitement of two middle-school students but with a maturity befitting of the grown-up men they're. Unbeknownst of their actual identity, they experience the gentlemanly and romantic love they dreamt of, but they're inevitably soon faced with the reality when they find themselves facing off as enemies in a clash between two rival yakuza groups! However, that will not affect their true love that will prevail over everything else! Ahhh that was beautiful! So sweet and touching at the same time! I loved the reference to the 1950 "Mona Lisa" song all along the story and it really felt like I was watching a movie of a love story that was so beautiful and pure despite its violent background! A true gem...Definitely one of Nishida Higashi's best works!
