REVOLT
[From MangaHelpers] After his father died, Naruse Akira retreated into video games, and his mother retreated into alcohol. Naruse plays games almost all the time, getting him in trouble at his private school and worrying his childhood friend Hoju. He's incredibly good at war games because he is good at reading his opponents. One day, he ends up downloading a strange game called "Revolt" onto his phone. It's a game that has him orchestrate a revolution, and the graphics seem incredibly life-like. At the end, he learns that he was actually giving real-world orders, and that the game was part of a scouting process for a company that helps to run revolutions. Now they want him to be their commander and help them save the world.
Area 88
[Baka-Updates] The story is about a young pilot named Shin Kazama and his experiences at Area 88, a mercenary air force base secluded in the desert of a war torn country. Shin goes from head of his class at a world renowned aviation school dating the beautiful daughter of an airline president to a mercenary fighter pilot bound to Area 88 by a three-year contract that he was duped into signing by a jealous and competitive childhood friend. Determined to earn $1.5 million dollars to buy his way out of the obligation and return home, killing becomes second nature to Shin as he quickly rises to the top rank at Area 88. Overwrought with shame and self-loathing for what he has become, Shin begins to question whether he is still fighting for survival, or like his fellow mercenaries, for the sheer excitement and camaraderie of battle.

Akira
«✾(())✾» Akira (1982) by Otomo Katsuhiro - The timeless legendary classic award-winning masterpiece that inspired many works of its genre. Simply unique, breathtaking and mindblowing...reading this was a journey full of emotions! The plot, the setting and its visuals, the characters, the art...everything was perfect! Highly recommended, TOTALLY A MUST READ! No other words needed! And I actually don't need to write anything else to remind myself of this story, because it's truly unforgettable! Its essence and what I felt while reading it will always remain in my memory. The anime movie, a landmark in Japanese animation, is also great (a timeless favourite of mine and one of the best ever imo), but I also think it's just a taste of Akira. As a lot of things were left out (a great deal of the story actually) and others a little changed (not just in terms of storyline but also some characters and the parts they played in the course of the story), the development and some parts of the story are different. So, to experience Akira at its fullest, the manga is essential. [[Flipped Translated Publication - Read from Left to Right]] - Note: in the English version the story is set in 2030, but originally it's 2019. Btw, the fact that we'll have Tokyo 2020 - XXXII Olympic Games is truly amazing! Anime movie: available at kissanime and also on Netflix. >> It seems a new anime adaptation is in production!
