I mean, I was curious to read their story and so I was really looking forward to read it. From what I saw in the main story, I liked Ayumi and I wanted to see how he would make Chiaki fall in love with him...but I can't hide that I was unsatisfied / disappointed with the turn the story took from ch. 3 onwards!! I didn't think Ayumi would do something like chaining him (and it was not the chaining per sè, as it wasn't that extreme). Was it necessary? Well, if we think about how he grew up always having what he wanted expect for that one time he was shocked because he didn't manage to have some goldfish, then that could explain how he'd want to monopolize Chiaki and keep him in his clasp once he decided he wanted him...and I mean a little possessivness is good too, but that seems all a bit weird! I also understand that the author used that tying down thing to bring out the issue of Chiaki's step-brother tying him down by blackmailing him, and I actually liked how Ayumi delt with the step-brother making it so that Chiaki was able to put an end to that situation, but as I said it felt weird, especially as in the end they are all lovey-dovey like that! I would have preferred to see Ayumi making Chiaki fall in love with him in a genuine way, after all I think he had the potential to do so without restraining him! I don't know, overall I liked it, but it was not what I expected / wanted to see...it was also kinda difficult for me to rate it. Probably many works took inspiration from this later on, especially in regard to age-gap theme, so it's a story to read! To be honest, I don't like psycho ex-lovers still hanging around in an obsessive, stalkery way, trying to take back the person even with force, rape etc., so the whole drama with Ren's ex-lover Hirose was not exactly my type of thing. But overall the story was really good and engaging! Also, I'm weak when it comes to age gap / youth x adult, cohabitating due to certain circumstances and such, so I really enjoyed the interaction and the development of the relationship between Ren and Jouji! In the end, I was so glad to see them looking happy together! > Note: The title "Yume no Kodomo" is actually the title of one of the novels written by Ren.
