Kimi Wa Petto
Sumire (27), an independent, beautiful career woman who is smart, capable and successful in her work, is tired of feeling under-appreciated and disrespected. One day, while going home, she finds a box, outside her apartment, with a young man inside...she brings him into her house and somehow decides to keep him as a "pet", because he reminds her of her late dog! So, from now on, the young man (20) will be "Momo". I want to pat Momo's head too!! Seriously, this is one of the best josei I've ever read! I truly enjoyed reading it. Well, it's reeeally slow-paced but personally I didn't mind, as I love slow romance. Actually, I think even people who don't like that may appreciate this story and find it nice to read, because it's such a great slice of life josei, which, while being super funny, deals with important realistic issues that women may relate to, so I think it's interesting to read. Also, there's the theme of "Older Female Younger Male", which I totally love! ❖ Talking about the main characters, I really liked Sumire, as that's a type of female lead that I truly appreciate, but the one I loved the most is Momo|Takeshi! He's adorable and cool at the same time. He seriously made my heart skip a beat countless times while reading! Man, I want his love bite too ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄ ❖ Ahhh Momo and Sumire really look so good together! I loved how their relationship slowly developed from "master-pet" to lovers. I was anticipating so much the moment when Sumire-chan would finally realize she was in love with Momo! At ch. 49 I was already going crazy xD But, while waiting, I savored their every little moment, so I really enjoyed it even more, tasting little by little. Also, I really like how the author created a situation in which Momo apparently was the one depending on Sumire, who gave him a place to stay etc., when actually Sumire herself was the one depending on Momo, so much, so deeply, even without realizing it at first. So they complement one another and that's beautiful! ❖ I thought it was fate that Sumire would find Momo in a box in front of her apartment and pick him up...and it's a really amazing thing actually, because after knowing that they already had a chance encounter in the past (ch. 47 - and the countdown really began xD), I really thought they were truly fated to meet again sooner or later to be together! Like they said when they were talking about "En"...I think that was fascinating~♡ 14 Volumes (Complete) Live-action (Drama + Movie) :: Japanese Drama - 2003 :: (Matsumoto Jun ) :: Korean Movie - 2011 :: :: Japanese Drama - 2017 ::

Mixed feelings about this story... I liked it for two reasons. Firstly, because it's an old manga, so I liked the whole old atmosphere, and, secondly, because it's a family affair story. And that's why I added this to my old-style romance and family affair lists. But I'll say that it was also a frustrating story for two other reasons. Well, first of all, as an avid BL reader, if I see a guy kissing another guy (and more than once at that!), I tend to automatically ship them, so the whole situation of Aoi and Sumire all along the story was frustrating for me, BUT, and from this I'll come then to the second reason, I actually found mysef liking Aoi and Yuri together so much, also because I didn't like Sumire much in the first place, so I was rooting for Aoi and Yuri instead! [Spoiler] But sadly they didn't end up together. I mean, no surprise there really, because they went for the obvious predictable course. It was obvious she would end up with Sumire...but I really liked Aoi and Yuri's interaction and moments all along the story, so I strongly hoped that they would end up together somehow! I don't care if they are half-siblings since it's a manga. I really think it would have been a more interesting outcome, if they ended up together. So, I can't really hide my disappointment about this. Anyway, having said all that, overall it's a good oldie, although I'm clearly not a fan of the couple...
