Aku No Hana
I picked this up after watching the anime which was FREAKING AWESOME (I don't give a damn about people who hate on it, those better stick to cliche shounen/shoujo shit). The manga despite the cute art that ruined a bit of dark atmosphere of the story (captured perfectly in the anime btw), still kept me on the edge of my seat... until the second arc with that whole stupid drama in the new school. I fucking hate the second arc and I didn't give a damn about Kasuga or whoever he pairs up with but I HATED what author did to Nakamura. She was the main character of the manga for me and it was so frustrating to follow the second tier Kasuga for whole second arc only to find Nakamura in the last episodes talking like the shitheads she hated. God I was damn pissed at manga! Still I give it 3/5 for the fist arc which was dope. I have a feeling Oshimi Shouzo always messes up the ending of his niche stories because of magazine sales...or maybe he is just a shithead himself :( P.S. I watched the live-action movie and was reminded how disappointing the beach scene and Kasuga's shallow ordinary personality was so yeah, I downgraded my rating from 4 to 3 *sigh*
Boku Wa Mari No Naka
Yet another example of Oshimi Shouzo's mastery in starting a twisted story and ending it in the most cliche sucked up way. I should have a serious talk with this guy one day, he is shotting his best creations in the head with those endings URGH! Anyway, this one is "weirdly" twisted, definitely more geared towards the Ecchi end of the spectrum than psychological in the beginning, but as the story progresses, the psychological color becomes more visible and, unfortunately, the story becomes more predictable because you realize this is not fantasy or supernatural narrative. It is just real life (which is great) and so the number of answers to the mysteries are limited. I think he could do much better towards the ending but at least it was not as disappointing as Aku no Hana (I can't get over that one yet, I feel personally betrayed by author lol), so I give it a better rating (although I felt Aku no Hana's first arc in a spiritual level and it would have been among my top fav of all time if he just ended it in the first arc).
