Hanami's manga / #Roommates(5)

This manga includes the stories of four couples. The first chapter follows roommates Tachibana and Sakura. Tachibana struggles with the feeling of not wanting to leave Sakura, but not wanting to be a hindrance in his life. Chapters 2 &3 follow Takao and Wakamiya. Since high school Wakamiya has been attracted by Takao's face. When the adorable Nishioka-sensei becomes friendly with them, Wakamiya realizes just how much he likes Takao. Chapter 5 is about a businessman who falls in love with his coworker, who is overly helpful. And finally the last story is another coworker love story, Miyoshi is overly spoiled by Matsunaga and fears that he will end up being an annoyance. Overall this manga was cute and funny, especially the first 4 chapters. I really enjoyed all of the stories.

This manga includes two stories. In the first one, Endou is caught by Okumura for sleeping with his wife. As a way to make amends, Endou suggests that Okumura beat him up, instead Okumura slept with him. The quiet and refined Okumura isn’t exactly how he appears. Afterwards they start a company together. A lying, sneaky, manipulative, dominant and sexy uke, I approve. This story had its serious moments and downright hilarious moments. Once the butterfly of the night has you, you’re doomed. Side note: Why aren’t most “dead” past lovers in yaoi actually dead? The other story follows Ritsu, who’s in love with his straight friend that’s in a relationship. He sleeps around and eventually stumbles upon Ikeuchi Hideo and OB GYN doctor who fell in love with him. I didn’t really like Ritsu, he was bratty and not very likeable. STDs are actually a concern in this story. I died at the hospital scene though.

A collection of oneshots. (1) Popular student Suwa fell in love with Fujisaki, an introverted classmate. (2) Uehara Daisuke receives a love letter from what he thinks is a girl. Instead the person who confessed to him was Aikawa Ruka, his male kohai. I really liked this story, mainly because of Ruka. I liked how he wanted to be friends first, and also how he has a combination of traditionally female pastimes (cooking and sewing), but also “masculine” hobbies like kendo. His room was adorable too. (3) Natsume Ryuuichi has a glasses fetish and has to choose between his otaku coworker (Kuze) and his younger friend (Aya). Battle of the ukes to see who gets the prize. I died after they jumped on him when Natsume was sick. (4) Businessman Kikuchi Yuuma spends all his time working but even so he still messes up. His ex, Haruto, decides to stay for a while with him. Haruto is the cutest things ever. (5) Coworkers Manabe Yoshi and Asano Yukata can’t seem to spend a day together due to work. Feeling disappointed, Asano teases a coworker to get a rise out of Manabe.

(1) Yasaka Takanori has been in love with Akikawa Seiji for 5 years until he finds out that he’s sleeping around with the chemistry teacher. At the same time his friend and roommate, Tomori Mioki, confesses to him. This was so good. I liked Mioki, he was cold but also really cute. Takanori made me laugh a couple of times, poor guy really needs to live outside of his head and take a look around. (2) Student Tokura has always admired the school director Shiraizumi Touka. But after Sasamori sensei expresses his interest in Shiraizumi, Tokura has to act in order to not lose the director. At first I didn’t like Sasamori but at the end I wanted to keep him. Gold star for him. The director was too cute and innocent. (3) Hanamura Ousuke is a scholarship student at a school for rich people. He’s stuck taking care of the school president’s son, Tatemiya Soushi, who just came back from America. Tatemiya beats Hanamura in just about everything, a fact that irritates him. Until he discovered Tatemiya is afraid of the dark. Tatemiya was surprisingly innocent and cute, I liked how he admired Hanamura’s dedication. (4) Orihara wakes up next to his classmate and crush Miyagi, completely naked. Miyagi tells him that they are now going out, but they don’t act like a couple. Miyagi acts as if he’s not interested in Orihara. Miyagi was possessive and kind of cute. He also liked Orihara for a long time.
