Part fluffiness (not just the cute cats) and part serious, this is a wonderful and (dare I say it) family-safe manga that hits on life, death, marriage possibilities, family, friends, coming of age, responsibilities, and of course cats, cats, and more cats (and a cute dog as well). It's not overly-dramatic, either, it's very every day-ish going-ons of life for Chion and Gen.
