1 - 32 recap
FL works for a dysfunctional family. She was brought in to be an emotional punching bag and plaything because she looks like the queen and princess.
She stays for 6-plus years out of love for ML, only for him to use her for a scandal, only to get pissed at her for mentioning pregnancy. She decides to leave and get trinkets from ML to leave him. She succeeds and leaves by boat. (Freakin sighed with relief when she did)
The siblings are upset that she is gone; ML’s sister goes in a rage, and ML goes into a drunken stupor while having one of his servants look for her. He breaks off his engagement while encouraging his former fiancée to elope with his lover. Then, he talks to his father about looking for her himself. Dad implies that it seems more ok nowadays and that he would like to meet the FL. Ml’s sister hears and hires a hitman to kill her so no one will find out how she abused FL.
ML goes to see the Princess before leaving and finds out FL is the Princess’s half-sister (no duh, freak if you have secrets lover, of course it was bound to be a thing for royalty, too) and that she is pregnant. This caused him to hasten ever so slightly, only to realize that finding FL would not be easy.
Far off beyond the water and into the countryside, FL is enjoying a bit of peace until she is caught by bandits and robbed of all her money, only to survive with a few measles coins. A seemingly kind older lady takes her in and allows her to stay for free until she finds a job; all the while, a hitman is out on a hunt for her life. Fff..
For me, FL is pitiful and endearing; ML is a MESS; ML’s Sis, aka FV, is a MESS- I see what the author is trying to do; I can see this happening when there isn’t anyone there to show them emotional competence and responsibility. Also, being taught that only those of noble birth are worth it. FL history would not have any power to say otherwise; the choice the author made for his is realistic in that way, but the ML looking for her and the ML’s dad being cool with it is not. Especially if it is constantly implied that “you are nothing if you are not a noble.” It would have made more sense if he had found out she was a missing princess and convinced him that way and would have given VL an even greater reason to kill her.
The shift of humanizing FL for the ML and people of the same status to those around ML was very drastic in the last 5ish chapters.
