Cherry Blossoms After Winter
SO CUTE. Love the art style, love the characters, love the relationship dynamics, and love the plot. It's mostly a light reading, as the plot is not too heavy; instead it has the best combination of fluff and hurt/comfort. The plot was executed well, very well-paced with great development and progression. Love the relationship of the main couple; they have a strong bond and trust in each other. Their communication is A+. When there are misunderstanding between them, they are eager to solve it together before it turns into a big conflict. They are so in love with each other, I love it. BONUS POINT FOR SUPPORTIVE FEMALE FRIEND! This type of female character is so rare to see in webtoon. She is pretty, supportive, and remains strictly as friends to the main leads.
Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!
A delight! Love this one a lot. A sweet and adorable manga about Nakamura, a disaster gay teenager, who has a crush on his classmate. The mangaka did really well in portraying teenage relationship and feelings. The story progressed nicely, with the relationship between Nakamura and his crush developing in the funniest but sweetest way. Lovable characters, cute interaction, adorable art!! It's all in one package. I do hope it was longer, to be honest.
Ten Count
4.5/5 stars. Beautiful art. Really, really love the art. Has some of the most well-drawn sexy scenes ever. The plot is okay; the characters are interesting and beautifully designed, and their relationship is also unique. There are fluff and some angst, but the conclusion of their relationship is satisfying enough. Tho, tbh, I am not a big fan of the ending. Light BDSM. Top is a service top. It was really hot.
Shimanami Tasogare
TW: attempted suicide, homophobia, transphobia, sexual harassment. A beautiful story with equally beautiful art; this manga sent me to tears each chapter. This LGBTQ+ manga is a coming-of-age story of a gay teenager who met others from the LGBTQ+ community, and thus begin his journey of re-finding himself with a new family. Realistic portrayal of bullying, discrimination, and struggles faced by LGBTQ+ people. This one hits really close to home.
Fools
AAAAAAAA. This is one of the best gem I accidentally found. To be honest, when I first read the summary, I didn't think I would like it a lot. But after reading a few chapters, I got instantly hooked. I really love the art and coloring style--the mint and yellow design are cute, and the characters are also well-designed. Moreover, the characters are really good-looking? Eungi has no rights being that handsome;;;; It started as a typical webtoon of two guys falling in love: the confusions, the misunderstandings, the courting, and the past relationship. Though it was a slow burn, I personally think it was developed well. It was really sweet, and yet, by the end--I feel like it has a very mature message. I felt like shedding a few tears at the ending, even though it was a happy one.
Raising a Bat
I thought it was a vampire BDSM+ webtoon, but it turns out to be much more. A vampire/human webtoon, it has an unconventional story with complex and deep characters as well as relationship. It is not a light reading; instead, there were a lot of "dark" themes. Sent me to tears a few times, however the ending is extremely satisfactory. Definitely worth reading.
Anta Nante Daikirai
Rating: 4.5/5 A story about two idiots falling in love. It's a manga about the cliche "my new boss is my one night stand" prompt; but it was executed well. For a 1-volume manga, it was well-paced with adorable relationship development. Cute, fluffy, and totally sweet. A manga totally worth reading!!
Given
TW: suicide, homophobic remarks, slight PTSD symptoms.
The Wilting Light
TW: blood, animal death. Gorgeous art; the background, the character design, the clothing design, the accessories. Intriguing plot, too. Underrated gems! Hwee-un looks so tender and pretty, it is easy to forget that he is a General, and can be really fierce when he wants to. (*SPOILER* Soha is the Goblin King.)
