Erin was a god, just like the god of light and the god of darkness, and she created the middle world. The demon world was at war with heaven, so she sacrificed her life to stop them. In doing so, her body was distroyed and shattered into many fragment that were scattered through the 3 worlds. The 2 other gods joined forces to beg the god of creation (who created them) to reincarnate Erin. After thousands of years, she was finally reborn as a human, with her powers and memories of her past life, but someone was gathering the fragments of her late body with the endgoal of becoming a god, and Erin once again sacrificed her life to save the 3 worlds. After that, she reincarnated many times, in many different worlds, and had many unfortunate lifes, until she reincarnated as Irene (= Rin). Just to be clear, Irene is still Irene, she just happens to also house the soul of Erin.
