[SPOILERS] In this world, there are demons, magic and divine power. Divine power comes from God, who appoints priests, cardinals and the pope. Without the pope, the world would be thrown in the Dark Ages. An oracle from God announced Hilde as the new pope when she has just been born, but she didn't possess a soul so she never woke up. Alsace Ludan, Hilde's younger brother and 1rst cardinal, asked God for an oracle, because the people were starting to despair that she would never wake up and that they would be left at the mercy of the demons, whose attacks were becoming more frequent (as the protective barrier weakened). He received an oracle saying that Hilde would soon have a soul and awaken. But mortals aren't supposed to ask for oracles, and Ludan had to pay a price to receive it : as a consequence, his body is underdevelopped and sickly (especially his lungs) and he is not expected to live long. In our world, the heroine is a successfull businesswoman. When she was young, she was sick and received her sister's heart, which she only learned about later. That was what made her want to acheive everything she could, as a way to live for both of them, but she was a lonely person. One night, she was hit by a truck and dies, and God proposed to reincarnate her. She accepted and asked to be reincarnated in the same world as her sister. Her soul was send to Hilde's body, and so Alsace Ludan is the reincarnation of her sister. Hilde was promised to Caleb before she was born, and God agreed to their union. Caleb is the Empire's ruler. He murdered his entire family in his rise to power, except for his sister. Caleb's father, the former Emperor, isn't actually dead, and he is conspiring with a cardinal to kill Caleb and put Hilde back to sleep.
