Beautiful Days
First story (chp 1-5) Not words other than perfection. A masterpiece. Felts lots and cried lots. Reread: didn't love it as much but guess it was like with Doushitemo Furetakunai when I loved it to pieces after the first read but don't feel it as much the second time. It's still great though. Second story was too confusing for me to feel anything initially but after awhile I understood it. I probs would have liked it more if I understood it the first time because it's about twisted revenge. I think because the concept is really psychological yet they don't really delve into the reason behind the semes feelings. I get its complicated and he's human and didn't want to ruin their relationship (I would understand this more if the manga actually went into it) but why did he take the uke in and seem to do a shitty job of raising him because he seems to always leave him alone at home? Is he trying to distance himself from the uke? Does it root from his tendency to pick up abandoned animals and lovers yet not do a good job of taking care of them? Because after thinking all of this you really do realize the seme is a shitty person. He always leaves the uke in the dark and lets him misunderstand. He should know his history of abandonment yet he doesn't try enough to reassure he's needed. GOD.
Ikujinashi no Kimi ni Sasageru
Idk why people seem to not have liked this very much because I thought it was fantastic. The story had endless amounts of miscommunications misunderstandings and a lot of unrequited love but I think that was pretty realistic. Both characters are young innocent and naive and therefore are too afraid to actually do anything about their "taboo" feelings for each other because 1) the traumatic experience 2) they are both guys. While I would have liked to see how the actual victim and his traumatic experience affecting his life overall be more elaborated, I actually like how they mainly focused on the friend. It shows that traumatic experiences don't just majorly impact the victim, but also people close to the victim as well. While I can't speak from experience, I find it very realistic that after the experience, loved ones tend to not always treat the victim the same anymore due to fear of triggering that person. And because the childhood friend has romantic feelings for the victim, it's understandable why he'd feel guilty and therefore feel he must distance himself from his friend. I really enjoyed this because it's simply a slice of life love story that proved to take a more realistic and painful take on a shounen ai manga. Would deinfitely reread 20240223 lol. I don't know what I was on but this really isn't that good. The constant miscommunications did feel really drawn out for drama's sake. Even the MC's trauma from being SAed is so random it doesn't at all shape the point of the story.
Jazz
Even though this is definitely a guilty pleasure type, I love the obsession, the misunderstandings, and the insecurities of the couple. I only wish the ending was more resolved where the uke was not only more confident in the semes love but in himself as well. A lot of really deep shit was kinda glossed over and I wished it was more elaborated on. A lot of the drama was pretty extra and felt k-drama-y but nonetheless I liked it. The doctor is seriously depressed and I wish the tone was more "Naoki made me understand my self worth" rather than "naoki is my only reason for living" that type of moral would have made this an instant 5.
3-pun Instant no Chinmoku
At first glance of the first chapter, this manga easily could have went the typical two/three chapter route about an incestuous unrequited love that would lead to some small misunderstanding (rape possibly included), followed by a rushed and unconvincingly conclusion that the feelings are mutual, and the older brother's woman phobia would be completely glossed over. However, as it progresses, this story surprisingly gets pretty dark, sad, and complicated with a lot of character development. Their feelings seem geninuely real and all you want is for them (particularly the older brother) to be happy. On a side note the older brother is so fragile and damaged and adorable how the fuck could you not instantly fall for him and want to protect him from literally everything???
YOWAMUSHI DANSHI, RENAI HAJIMEMASU
Gahhhhhh what is this cute shit????? If it keeps going like this then I will gladly applaud this mangas handle of yaoi's rape trope.
Realist ni Yoru Romanticism
The semes abrasive and a bastard yet I still kinda like this? I also do like that the uke didn't fall immediately.
Service Time ga Owaranai
Ahhhhh this has everything I want in a yaoi: ridiculous and hilarious situations. MC misunderstanding. Adorable and likable characters. attractive art. SEXUAL TENSION. I LOVE IT.
Renai Nante Yurushimasen!
Eh. Loved the brother for being such an advocate but didn't really feel the chemistry for the MC. Plus the art is kinda stiff Also not super convinced about the semes unrequited love. Hes just too gloomy
Kanshaku Dama no Love Song
