i really liked this! it's always interesting reading about the fine line between admiration and jealousy. if the person u consider ur rival surpasses u, if ur not that great at the work u love, how would u cope with that? i think the mc could've done more to apologize to the ml, bc it's def not the ml's fault but he internalized it. still, i like where they ended up and how the mc worked thru those feelings, even giving up and quitting at one point only to make working with the ml his motivation once again
