Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!

Ongoing | Yuu toyota | 2019 released

…I don’t even know where to begin with this review. I’ll start off with Ch. 43. This chapter was by far the most emotionally impacting. Hearing the uke remenace about his former self and the person he is now really touched me. It was when he specifically mentioned “I’m ok with the version of myself now”. This statement moved me in a way that I didn’t expect. Even as I’m writing this review, I’m constantly fighting any tears that are trying to escape. Similar to the Uke, I never thought highly of myself and I have a hard time understanding other ppl’s feelings as well. Watching him grow into someone who is confident in their current self personally speaks volumes to their character and drive. I aspire to be that way. I’m emotional because it’s hard to put aside your pride and identify with the things you hate about yourself. This still remains a daily struggle for me. I just admire the ukes response to the seme and how he’s coming into his own. It’s honestly beautiful. Ik everything in life is a work in progress, but I hope that my progress alllows me to reach that same point. This story (so far) is amazing to say the least. The plot was not only unique but progressive as well. The chemistry between the main characters felt so natural. I felt like I grew with them after every chapter. Whether it’s someone casually getting jealous or misunderstanding, its comedic elements never fail to put a smile on my face. And best of all, the romance was nothing short of beautiful. Seeing where they started to where they are now is so special. I’m genuinely impressed by the authors ability to convey such a passion between two people while making it feel natural as well. This was by far one, if not, the best romantically written story line that I’ve read so far from a BL. There were so many elements incorporated into the story that challenged our understanding of their relationship and brought attention to real world situations. I liked how the author showed both sides of their engagement stories to their families. It was authentic and realistic compared to other novels. I appreciate her attention to detail as well. Her art is amazing and it really highlights everyone’s unique features and characteristics. I had no issues with how any of the characters in this story looked (which is honestly rare). All in all, I really loved this story, but I loved the Uke most of all. He felt so relatable and inspiring. His growth took me by surprise, he wasn’t annoying, and his personality is so genuine. I really loved his character development and the closure he found within himself. He found the confidence to allow self to be happy and accept the parts that he hates of himself too. He realized that it ultimately makes him who he is. Him being ok with that was the cherry on top. I can’t express how touching that was for me. It reminded me that no matter how hard things may seem, or how impossible it sounds, change is always possible. Life is temporary like our emotions, but by working hard for what we want it makes everything worth it. The main couple is relationship goals and their engagement will only take them further. There’s so much more that I can discuss about this manga, but I’ll leave it here until her next volume. I’m so glad I got the chance to read this. 10000/10, would definetly read again. I loved it!!!

Sayonara Game (minaduki Yuu)

Complete | minaduki yuu | 2016 released

I liked the story. However, I felt as though the plot was lacking a bit. I understand where the author was coming from in terms of the drama, I still didn’t feel like their love felt natural and the first half of the manga was slightly slow. I felt like the romance could have been better. The sister was the only character with common sense aside from the seme’s kohei/old tutor.

Mukuwarenai Koi no Uranaikata

Complete | Ogi kannu | 2019 released

Ngl, this manga was low key a hot ass mess The uke was basically praying on the seme’s downfall regarding his marriages, and the writer was being messy as well lol. I still liked it and found it amusing, especially when they revealed that the seme was a fucking marriage counselor even though he’s been divorced 3 times! Like wtf, the purpose of me hiring you is to help me. If u can’t help yourself then what makes u qualified to help me

Dekoboko Sugar Days

Complete | Atsuko Yusen | 2000 released

This was honestly funny! The only thing that I felt like needed improvement was the transition from the seme’s old behavior to his “new” behavior. In my opinion, it didn’t feel as natural as it could have and almost feels as though it was forced in a sensed.

One Night Mate

Complete | Cherry Manju, Justice | 2019 released

I honestly finished reading this just to finish reading it. There were many moments when my intelligence was insulted, and I felt like the story was pretty cliche. The sex was censored from the translation, but it at least still had romance. I also would have loved to see more from the side couple. I felt like the author led with more drama rather than romance and it felt low key dragged out. All in all, it was an ok read, but I wouldn’t reread it again.
