Hatsuai
Kashiwaya is captivated by his childhood friend, Hibino, adam's apple. Thinking he is a vampire he decides to lick it only to leave both of them unsatisfied. Comedy, weird uke, naive uke, high school romance, childhood friends The art of this series is adequate considering the date of publishing. It's not as stylish, polished, and detailed as you would find for a work nowadays. Regardless, I think it really adds to the appeal of this work. Proportions were sometimes a tad bit off, but nothing too noticeable. Expressions were stoic, but it adds to the humor and conveys the feelings of the characters very well. The characters were... quite peculiar. The uke has traits that I haven't find in any other uke, naive and innocent yet not stupid and girly. Totally loved him! As for the seme, he is an understanding, loving, accepting character. While reading this, I was thinking "ah, they make a great match!" The relationship development progressed very smoothly. I loved reading the titles of the chapters, they made sense and added to the anticipation. I loved their confessions, it suited their personalities perfectly. The plot was compelling. I don't think i've ever found a plot like this in a high school romance series. The story telling relied mostly dialogues so you will have to infer the thoughts and thinking process of the characters, I think this makes it better because everyone can have their own opinions on the characters. This series employs dry humor, I think adults who read this will fully understand the real appeal this series has. I'm satisfied with where this took me. The amount of chapters was good. I don't feel a "want more" yearning, but I don't feel bummed out either. It was a good read. I wouldn't want to miss out on reading this at least once.
Hana to Junketsu
In this story, vampires and humans coexist. The MC vampire in this story, likes to mate before/during feeding to make the blood more appetizing. One day the MC human happens to be on duty for the infirmary, during lunch time MC vampire comes in to be fed. Already in love with the vampire before him, he agrees to mate and let the vampire suck on him. Also includes a oneshot of a cat, Your Excellency, who wonders in life until he stumbles upon a lovely human.... Extremely bittersweet. Lovely. high school romance, studentxstudent, vampirexhuman The art is lovely. This author makes her characters very aesthetically pleasing. Soft, stoic, a bit of fluff, very lovely. I think her art is great. The sex scenes don't put me off, I think she relies on dialogue and close ups a lot so it really brings subtle homosensual undertones whilst avoiding shitty drawings of male anatomy. Actually, I think full naked bodies aren't really shown. Good expressions too. The characters are well defined. They really do act mature for their age. Secondary characters in the story really add to the plot without being weird. I think both characters develop nicely. The relationship development was so smooth, it felt really natural. The author parallels the symbolism of freeing a bird with freeing the seme from his burdens so he can embrace what he truly desires. Overall, this relationship development has depth. As you reread, you will discover more and more meanings. The plot is nicely paced, adorable. It's not just entertaining, this manga has a message. It's well planned. This author really delivers. If you like this story, let me tell you... I know it's great but it's not even her best. Check out Rouge, La Vie en Rose, Bebe-san. This author often makes bittersweet stories and outside-the-box thinking ukes. Soft characters, great art, symbolism, motifs, metaphors. This author is truly hardworking.
Ore no Kirai na Senpai
Chapter 1-6 - review The art was good. Nothing out of ordinary, but certainly not bad. Maybe a little rough, but still cute. I liked how most of the time the supporting character's faces were not drawn, this made me focus on the main characters, made the story sharp, given the short amount of chapters. Cleanliness was good, art style was good, transitions were good. The characters were quite lovely. At the beginning I thought the Seme was childish but that didn't bother me at all, since they are high school students. In fact, it only made me think that the author portrayed really well the feeling of "high school romance." The attitudes of the characters reflected their age really well. It took me back to the memories I have of my first love in high school. The Uke was cool around other people, yet cute and sweet with the Seme, which made their romance all the more compelling. Attitude, dialogues, personality, bodies and faces, good. The relationship development progressed nicely. Not too slow, not too fast. It felt like they smoothly fell in love. With no big cliche "I like you" announcement but rather a naturally occurring set of events that made both characters realize they are in love with each other and ultimately confessing. The moment they did so was just right. The plot was made for success. High school romance, popular guys, kouhaixsenpai, competitiveness, cuteness, fluffiness, hornyness. Nice mix and just enough of everything. Easy to follow, easy to read. Cute, fun, sexy, romantic. Just lovely. The sex was hot enough but mostly cute, positions were nicely drawn and made sense. Love how the focus was made on the emotional bond they both have. Loved how the emotional bond they have with each other made the sex better. Love how they showed the Seme looking at the cumming face of the Uke rather than showing us, the readers, the Uke directly cumming. Chapter 5, page 27. Sometimes it was hard to keep up with the close ups, wasn't sure which body part belonged to who. Same with the dialogues. Then again, there were few moments like this an a casual reread lifted any doubts. Good read. Left a good impression. I'm satisfied, though I have a small "want more" yearning...
