I usually have no problem differentiating between depictions of dubcon or delayed consent against rape in yaoi. Here, a kid screaming for his parents while the other guy forces himself on him is rape in my book. And it should be addressed as such. Now, I understand that I can't expect from this kind of story and actual portrayal of the psychology of a rape victim, but at least I can expect the uke not to actively pursuit the seme after that. Specially when you think he was a kid who fought so hard to overcome his hardships. He starved himself to buy his heat medication, didn't sleep good to be in a good school with a scholarship, took care of his family because his parents were irresponsible fuckers. Now he has his will taken away and is remainded constantly of his being an omega. It makes all his struggle look futile. All the setting for his character was thrown away to reduce him to being an omega. The bite was the sign of that. Alphas can bite as much omegas as they want, yet omegas remain bonded to the one alpha. He gets bitten when the seme rapes him on their first encounter and has no other choice but to deal with the seme not only physically forcing himself on him but also psychologically and in his every day life. I don't know if I have been reading too much fluffy omegaverse that I've forgotten how shitty it can be, but hell this one was worst than some regular yaoi I have read

It had an interesting premise, paired up with an uke who actually got angry and set his limits only to be fucked up at the end with him feeling sorry for the seme's sob story and yielding. It wasn't even that bad of a sad backstory. Just the usual absent parent. But it got escalated thought out the story so the ule would feel sorry when it mattered and give up on his claims for his feelings to be respected. The fact that it was Ao going to look for Renji, who had done nothing to change or show sincere remorse for completely fucking up his life makes the interesting initial premise a moot point. We even have Ao thanking him for turning him into an omega, making his previous anger on Renji for targeting him completely disappear. Everyone is talking about rape, but the worst part for me was the lost of autonomy of Ao, to such a point that he was thankful for it. The author tried so hard to pass a fucked up guy as an acceptable partner it just went full circle and got Ao trapped in a relationship as bad (if not worst) as Midori's. The final thing that did it for me was Ao saying Renji's father was kind and gentle and a GOOD father. As a kindergarten teacher, I doubt that should be his impression. Specially after hearing how Renji got neglected. If such themes were to be touched, and given the characters' profiles I would have expected to be handled accordingly and not for it to be mashed up untile you got your happy ending by force, forgetting the heavy subjects you introduced
