This shit is crazy it's like the author straight up read a abusive relationship manual and used it as guide to create their story. It's literally textbook manipulation in a not-cute way. Even if you did it on purpose you couldn't have gotten a more accurate depiction of it:
isolate you from the people you love -check-;
Control your every move -check:
Threaten their own life to keep you with them -check;
Take you away from the thing you love -check;
Ignore everything you say makes you uncomfortable -check;
It's scary accurate holy shit.
Like this does NOT boil down to "selfishness" (which by the way is aknowledge in the story itself but never solved??? They just say and then move on, cool).
