I'd like to see where this goes, also - love the dad, he's a real one. As the child of people who should've never had kids, I really appreciate him addressing with the wife that she has a child to pay attention to and having adopted another just because she was pitiful is bs - considering the fact that the wife spends all of her time with the adopted child rather than her actual child. I'm not saying that the adopted child isn't worth the attention but I myself was neglected as a result of my mother having another kid after failing me and being consumed by guilt, she wanted to start anew with a child she could wholly understand instead of trying to help me heal by being there for me and giving me love. I too am not comfortable with the affection others give but mine isn't as dark as hers. Mine is a result of being dismissed and manipulated into leaving my mother be so she had time for others. I really resonate with the Mc on that.
