Itoshiki Ningyo
It's been a long time since I found such a lovely plot-packed manga in so less chapters. It was like a gem wrapped in rags (not literally). Umi, a person cursed by mermaid curse since birth due to his grandparents' desire to save their sickly daughter-in-law, had faced severe negligence from parents and extreme abuse from his mother who repeatedly tried to kill him repeatedly in his childhood. As an abandoned child, he was looked down upon by people for the mermaid-like features that set him apart from others, and often made his the recipient of slanders from people. Saved by a tattoo artist who adopted him and taught him the art of tattoos, Umi started his new life. Meeting Mikagi, a spirit medium who is often called a scammer due to his power to exorcise spirits, Umi was able to find a person who likes his appearance and accepts him as who he is. the story shows how everyone deserves love regardless of their appearance. It's a sweet love story. P.S: I was really waiting for Umi to get pregnant. Sigh, we can't have all the sweetness of the world.
