The Baker on the First Floor
I’ve read this multiple times and I still can’t get over how beautiful the art is. You can definitely see the difference in art style comparing the first and final chapters. I’m a bit disappointed with how quickly it ended; it wasn’t going too into depth with the main character’s love story and focusing a lot on all of the character’s pasts. I don’t understand how they found love with what seemed to be going on in their lives. Honestly speaking, this is how the story went in my mind: they met, did it, became tangled in a knot of complications linked to their dark pasts, and then Sun Hwa and Goong Ha managed to over come them by opening up their minds and seeing each other for who they are after searching for someone whom they simply weren’t meant to be with. The main story got confusing due to the flash backs and inner stories, but after reading over it a few more times everything was linked and I can (finally) now understand what the problems were and so on, so forth. The character development was fun to notic (it was alright), though I don’t really know how to word it (currently running on 3hrs of sleep and a 5min power nap; it’s an ungodly hour). In spite of how else I thought of it, I found the story (and side stories) to be enjoyable to read. The first time I read baker on the first floor, it continued to bring sweat to the tears I was already sobbing out. Now that I’ve read it a bit more, I’m just fond of how fun the characters are without the drama. I ship all the couples in there. They all deserve happiness. But I must admit... Jin Kyo. You arsehole.
Suijin no Hanayome
Asahi gets swept away from her home world in the instant she turned her back from a pond in the backyard of her home. From then, she has had to face the trials that came with migrating to a whole new world. This involves a love triangle, which makes my heart (and head) ache bc I don’t know who to cheer for. I want them all to be happy, but a human’s internal organs are fragile and has as much possibility to break due to emotional stress as breakage due to physical stress. Really cute! Hoping that the Author is supported through this manga.
Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai
thIS IS TOO CUTE FOR MY HEART TO HANDLE. This is the thing about this manga. It convinces me that such a love story exists in reality... And the truth hurts...But I’m hoping this is how it is with some couples too... there are 7 billion people in the world..... so.... it’s not completely impossible ? I gave my heart away to this manga and wish to protect them forever because I will not allow the end of their relationship. WOULD READ IT A THOUSAND TIMES OVER EVEN IF IT GETS COMPLETED.
Nights Before Night
An ex-yakuza named Haru is forced to look after troublemaking yakuza Yukitaka. The sleep-deprived brothel owner has to put up with this rowdy kid for a period of time because of inescapable circumstances. It’s interesting, the concept of Yakuza couples is so cool The story is proceeding at a steady pace and you learn gradually more about each of these characters. Will continue to read ~ Edit: idk how long ago I wrote that comment but I never finished this bc I couldn't bring myself to. Am planning to come back tho to read again.
Jishou Akuyaku Reijou na Konyakusha no Kansatsu Kiroku
cOMPLETELY exceeding the expectations I had initially from when I read the summary, but that’s what makes it so interesting! Bertia is the self-proclaimed villainess (self-proclaimed because she seems to have transmigrated or reincarnated into an otome game she had played in her previous life) who is determined to hook the prince, her fiancé, up with the heroine of the game. This manga revolves around said fiancé’s observations of his batshit crazy future wife. The events were all pretty typical, and the only things that stray from the usual otome game reincarnation manga is that the story is being told in the perspective of one of the main characters of the game, and that the villainess is super naïve, super cute and super obsessed with her own downfall. Mini spoiler: The prince is slowly starting to realise that what’s not so fun about observing Bertia is that she’s basically rejecting him every time she tries to set him up with the heroine in order to follow the plot. BUT! you can tell that Bertia truly fell in love with the prince, but probs doesn’t think that a “villainess” like her isn’t meant to be with the “heroine’s prince”. I swear I want to protect her and keep her for myself and away from all evils of this world— the prince can go piss off.
