Asato has a unique constitution giving him the ability to experience and recreate the death of murder victims with his own body by absorbing their lingering thoughts. Despite his lack of detective skills, Asato uses his ability to solve cases for the Metropolitan Police Department's Special Investigations Unit Six, along with his partner Kuroiwa, the cold and unempathetic superintendent who believes in Asato and his ability.
