On the was home from work, Aoi, a man raising his dead lover son, Ushio, finds a lost puppy and picks it up to look for its owner. But, when it runs off, it lead Aoi to a shrine with a mysterious man, who tells Aoi he shouldn't return. However, Aoi can't help feeling drawn to the man, who somehow feels similar to a dog his family had in the past.

Ever since being found by Kiyoto, white dog god Shiro and Kiyoto, who is haunted by a black dog god, have been together. When Kiyoto begins acting strangely, Shiro becomes anxious because Kiyoto is the reason Shiro is able to take human form and if Kiyoto no longer needs him, he'll vanish. However, Kiyoto is hiding the guilt he feels over his possessive love for Shiro.
