After his grandfather's death, Sadao moves to his mother's village and becomes the family head. Though others seem to avoid Sadao, Sadao quickly befriends and falls for his classmate Tomoru. However, Sadao discovers the village's legend that "if the keeper of the rain, Sadao, cries, it will rain" and Tomoru is actually the rain keeper's guardian, whose role is the make Sadao cry.
