Taichi fell in love with Yoriko as a teen when she was an idol. She spotted Taichi on a bench, crying as she was looking for a person to scout. He realized immediately that it was his idol but never told her. Taichi loved Yoriko for all the 7 years he knew her, never getting into a relationship nor sleeping with another girl. He constantly complained about his lack of experience and not getting a girlfriend, but really, it was because YORIKO was the only girl for him. He lost his virginity to her when she was extremely drunk and he had told her that it was her fault he was a virgin and to take responsibility. Yoriko was finally fed up with Taichi's complaining and told him that she'd sleep with him. This was one of the happiest days of his life, although he didn't say that then. Taichi confessed his feelings for Yoriko but she didn't take him seriously. He told her that he wanted to make it official the day after, but she told him to stop joking and that they couldn't. They continued sleeping together for a while, and he continued to confess and her feelings for him grew, which she finally realized, but she thought he was "still" in love with another retired idol, which he never was to begin with. He had just told Yoriko that for years. But the last years, he had stopped talking about her. But when Taichi finally got to meet his supposed first love, Yoriko started thinking he started liking her "again". He didn't.
When Yoriko was an up-and-coming idol, she had been assaulted (attempted rape) by a talent agent, but she slapped him and managed to get away. Yoriko had to make a decision for her carreer. Sleeping with that egent would have meant making a name for herself and furthering her carreer. Another idol (one Yoriko came up with) DID sleep with him and she made it big. She was the very same idol that Yoriko thought Taichi was in love with for all these years.
Anyway, Taichi managed to get that idol to come forward to get other women who had been subjected to that agent's sexual misconduct, to do the same so that they could take him down. Taichi didn't tell Yoriko that he was going to do this. They managed to catch the agent red-handed when Yoriko was trying to entrap him, bringing voice recorders, trying to get him to confess/incriminate himself of his misconduct. He tried to rape Yoriko but was stopped by Taichi. He had been hiding in a closet the entire time, arriving at the hotel before them. It was the room the agent always stayed in when he slept with girls. Taichi had his entire entertainment agency on the line, on speaker as well as Taichi and them recording the conversation. They got Shindou for all this. When that was said and done, Taichi kept his producer on the phone because he wanted him as a witness to what was to come. Taichi said that he wants to marry Yoriko. She was shocked and kind of freaked out a bit. Taichi told her that he had asked his producer if he could marry her when he made it big, as a teenager. And that he had gotten the producer's blessing to marry her before this. Yoriko was shocked. Taichi then asked if she will marry him, and she said "okay". Taichi was overjoyed and told the producer that he was a witness to that Yoriko said yes and they ended the call.
Taichi and Yoriko made their relationship public by the interview Taichi had had with a radio host on a radio station, when she asked about Taichi's first love. He shared many details which made Yoriko realize that it was HER that Taichi had been in love with and who had been the idol he had all these years, not the other girl. The radio host finally asked him for the idol's name and he then said Yoriko's idol-name. They published this interview after Yoriko had said yes to Taichi's proposal, and she made a public statement to his fans "and whom it may concern", that she is in a relationship with Taichi and will be marrying him.
They got married at the end. It was truly great and I loved it. I will probably re-read it. It did have a lot of dark elements to it and it really affected me and even made me cry. But, it was truly worth it. I loved it. I truly did. 10/10
