Shiro to Tsubaki
Mixed feelings. Tsubaki is adorable and I like his relationship with Shiro, but god this was full of sexual assault. By the demons, then by his “uncle” (which fucking ew, he basically raised him), then by the dudes his uncle brought to “feed” him. Poor Tsubaki. I like incubus stories but it’s because they’re usually enjoying sex wholeheartedly. He did with Shiro, but I hate how everyone else treated him.
Pink Cherry Complex
Cute, Ren is dumb as a box of hair
Kitai Shichatte Ii Desu Ka!?
Love a bottom who really wants the D
The First Love of the Sushi Restaurant Owner is a Mermaid
This was perrrfect, my god. Art? Stunning. Story? Interesting. Sang-Ah? Nobody’s damsel in distress, and gorgeous. Hae-Bom? PERFECT SEME, give this man an award. Consent! Enthusiastic consent!! I adore the big tough-looking guys who are actually total marshmallows and Hae-Bom is that to a t. Okay the mermussy was a little weird but as long as they’re having fun. Uncensored in the last few side stories, it caught me off guard but I’m not mad at it. The chemistry between the leads was so real.
The Dreaming Trainer’s Ideal Master
This is hot and actually kind of sweet but all but I can’t enjoy it because of the whole casual human trafficking thing? They try to spin it as a good thing but like… you’re selling boys as sex slaves, no matter how “nice” their master is. And you know they don’t see a dime of that money.
Moto Yakuza ga BL Sakka ni Nattarashii
Cute, very interesting top/bottom combo. I wish we would’ve seen things from Hirose’s POV too, especially when the sex first started.
Hell & High Water
THIS WAS SO FUCKING GOOD. I love the art, the story was interesting and not just a catalyst for fucking, the dynamics between Dex and the team and his family were hilarious. Sloane and Dex are both HOT AF, and they are two gay men who are out and confident in their sexuality - no denial or internalized homophobia or existential crisis here. I adore a hybrid human/beast story and this was a great one. The pacing was great, though the ending did seem rushed - I think iit would've been absolutely perfect with another 3-5 chapters to resolve everything. I know this is based on a book and there are like 10 in the series - I definitely want to check them out, though I would rather have more comic adaptations like this because the art was so good and it was so much fun to read. Dex is such a great character - he's competent and badass and good at his job, secure in his self-worth, able to communicate his feelings, and has zero shame about his sexuality. He can be serious when he needs to be but his personality is such a breath of fresh air - his banter with everyone is amazing, but especially Sloane. Sloane seems like the usual big grumpy guy at first, but he's not - not only is he still dealing with the murder of his partner/boyfriend, he clearly has a traumatic backstory and did not receive the love and support of a family when he was growing up. But even with all that weighing him down, he grew into a good person who doesn't take his pain out on other people. He cares deeply for the people close to him and as much as he tries to push Dex away, Dex won't let him - without being aggressive or manipulative, just being there and providing support. It's exactly what Sloane needs. Their chemistry is INSANE, easily some of the hottest I've read - there's clearly an initial attraction but they actually get to know each other as partners and that's where the feelings develop. I also love so much that their first physical encounter was frotting and not jumping straight to anal in a parking garage. AND ALL THE SEX WAS SO HOT AND SO INTIMATE AND UNCENSORED AND WILDLY, ENTHUSIASTICALLY CONSENSUAL. There was nothing to feel icky about!!! You know it's good when they can laugh during sex. Dex is such a power bottom and I fucking love to see it. He wants that D and he will get it. Ugh I loved this so much. I'll definitely revisit it and hope for more.
