Happy Shitty Life
So... I absolutely loved the idea and the relationship between the 2 main characters it's funny, sweet, bizarre, and sexy, almost no complaints there, BUT I HATED Reo whole "thing": I didn't like the constant rape and the fact that it was made for laughs even though Kuzuya is clearly so afraid and traumatized from it. I get it, sex in this particular work is made for laughs no matter its context, but I still felt it unnecessary because the couple's dynamic was already so funny and bizarre. I never experienced sexual assault so usually, i don't mind seeing rape in Mangas I don't like it, I don't romanticize it, and I usually get bored from the manga because it is so unappealing to me and a cliche in the genre (yaoi) but the seen in the bathroom was almost triggering of how terrified Kuzuya seemed and might I remind you UNDERAGED. And yes, I am familiar with this author I know their style and that romantecized SA is a recurring theme but this was supposed to be a fluffy sweet funny manga, RAPE (let alone CHILD RAPE) doesn't fit in this kind of work. I know I wrote a lot and I may seem extremely over-sensitive but it is only because I like so many other themes in this manga; the relationship of the couple, the openness about sex and kinks, the art, the sex (I think it's beautifully drawn), the humor... it honestly saddens me that I CANNOT give this manga a better review.

So... this is kind of a hard one for me to rate, it shifts from very fluffy, cute, and funny to dark, chilling, and sad. The scenes depicting child abuse, rape, and child neglect were tough to swallow because of the clear and raw ways they were shown. The one scene I had the most problem with was Yoriko-San's backstory of abuse by men. But overall a beautiful story with interesting world-building and characters. I'm coming back to this review with the realization that the author is way more talented at Horror and Tragedy. I'm not saying this to belittle the Romance part but it honestly felt like the author wanted to write the Horror and Tragedy more than the Romance and Smut. But that's just my outlook.
A first love that costs 860,000 yen
