The First Love of the Sushi Restaurant Owner is a Mermaid
Honestly, excellent. Solid story, did not drag on but told the story it was trying to tell. Very cute and sweet with no stupid misunderstanding conflicts. I have a soft spot for mermaids and this hit all my favorites.
My Master
I thought this comic was fine. I didn’t love how controlling the prince was but at least the comic made that into an intentional plot line and something they had to work through in their relationship instead of excusing it. So I appreciated a story that addresses issues in the relationship and talks them out. But otherwise I felt like the plot was very frustrating and contrived at times. And the ending had a lot of unresolved things that I would have enjoyed seeing them address. Like seeing their wedding or addressing the fact that they can’t have bio kids or what Joo-in does for a job after school.
Your Dream Is Delicious
I love this one, should totally reread!
The Royal Prince's First Love
This story has some wild turns. Not that they didn’t set things up fully but there are times when it feels like we have completely switched sub genres or like what I thought the romance plot was going to be. First it was love rivals, then prince x bully, then reencounter childhood friends, then parents feuding Romeo-and-Juliet style, and then prince x bodyguard. Im only a third of the way though and it’s gone through so many iterations.

Hmm as someone with a degree in psychology, the ethics of this situation are questionable from the start. I mean psychoanalysis is less than scientific at best. the author just goes making up psychological concepts like “father’s law” and having a plot point be how crack is a hallucinogen and a narcotic (it’s neither, a stimulant and does not have that effect) and that everyone in the US uses it. That said, it is super interesting psychologically to watch a man who is trying to get better and work through his trauma. I do absolutely love the artwork though. The artist has such an interesting way of expressing things and does a lot with interesting angles I don’t often see. Shots from underneath the characters feet or body or putting things upside down, it’s very visually interesting and communicates a certain disconcerting feeling.
Red Candy
Absolutely one of my favorite BLs that I’ve read, quite possibly my favorite. It has an intriguing plot, compelling characters and character arcs. And I love how the two main characters challenge each other and despite everything that happens they end up coming back together again. The writing is just so good, it sucks me in every time I open a chapter, which is hard to do. Everything is well planned out, the character arcs and plot beats all work, and the story is so compelling. The ending is spot on with enough closure, though I’d have liked to see a wedding picture. Absolutely love this work.
